ok i have a friend that as a 2g talon ESi which is the 420A correct!
its not turbocharged, and is COMPLETELY stock!

Its just her DD!

well she called me yesterday asking me what could be wrong with her car, i told her id come on her and try to help her!

SOO she said her car will start ok then she will drive it ok, but when she comes to a stop, she says the rpms drop slowly then dies. she said once the rpms start to drop she cant get her car to drive till it dies and she starts it again!!

Does ANYONE know what this could be???

I was thinking a sensor on the throttle body or something but i dont know really!

thanks for any help!!

is it auto? adust the throttle cable a lil bit ...that will help with no stall at stop signs.

ya its an auto ESi...
and i will contact her here in a few mins and ask if thats all its doing!
i would love to see it cause that would help me figure it out more but she doesn't want to drive it anywhere! (understandable)

I had a similiar issues, first thing I tested was the throttle position sensor which turned out to be fine. Next thing was my ecu. Put a whole new ECU on it and what do you know it started woking again. so in short those are what I checked first

had the same problem with my 3kgt turned out to be the idle air control valve aka fast idle air valve just some things to check if the 420a has those sensors. also may want to look into the plugs and coil they are kinda picky on neon's maybe the same scenario.

yes but why would the idle speed change from yesterday to today? did the biss just back itself out? if you just go outside and turn the idle up it may mask the problem and just make it harder to actually find the problem later? it is a good idea to check the idle speed but i wouldn't adjust it yet. The idle air control valve works as a choke and only supposed to comes on when the car is cold, but if it comes on when the car is fully warmed up (malfunctions) it will cause the car to stall on deceleration, also explains why she has to turn the car completely off (reset the sensor) before it will idle again!

It's true, but if the car is idling at 400, and has been...well no matter what this needs to be turned up.

As far as why...there are things that happen with these cars that no one will ever be able to explain.

true but all im saying is check the iac before you turn up the idle.

right if the iac isn't working at all causes bad idle on start up i think hers maybe working to much ie after the car is warmed up causing stalling issues
