My 1990 GSX will run for around 3-5 mins and then it will start to sputter and then die at idle. I did a boost leak test and found that it was leaking out of the bov flange. The car has plenty of good gas and a new fuel filter along with new iridium spark plugs and wires. I'm sort of confused and figured that you guys would know whats up. Thanks for the help in advance :thumb: Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks
 
The iridium and platinum sprak plugs are bad for the turbo model DSMs even if the car had the problem prior get rid of them and get the NGKs back in there. you will lose performance and potentially cause internal problems with your engine. They are bad period for or cars not flaming you just trying to warn you and get you too change. As for the car dying at will when at idle: have you had your idle control module or motor checked yet? My car would start bog down and die even if I pushed throttle down and it was the idle control motor. If I was able to keep the RPMs up and high it would run for a little bit. Has your MIL light came on?
 
I forgot to mention that the car fouls the plugs as its running. I would have to pull the plugs and clean them everytime. Sorry i left that out.
 
I had a similar problem not too long ago and it ended up being the temp sensor plug had come loose. With the temp sensor not working the ECU sees a coolant temp of -47 degrees and runs the fuel trim ultra rich. It sounds like the car warms up but then dies because of the rich condition. Similar too flooding in a carb. Set up. A logger would tell you immediately.

Correct me if I'm wrong but is that sensor at the bottom of the radiator?
 
No it is at the bottom of the thermostat housing. There are a total of three connectors. The top one has green wires which is for your a/c and sits at and angle toward the air filter. The second one down is your temp sensor. It points directly at the radiator and has two leads to it. The third is a single lead connector that operates the gauge on your dash and the wire is yellow. Hope that helps.
 
Ok so I replaced that sensor. Still not staying running. Could it be IAC or ISC?

I heard this too. Not trying to be an ass but is there proof?
 
I just checked the ISC. The resistance was 29.8 on all. I was thinking could the ignition coil be dying? Would that explain the fouling of the plugs? If the sparks too weak and it doesn’t burn the gas wouldn’t that foul them? I’m not sure just a guess.... I appreciate all of the help though.
