Car Cuts Off ??

ok...to make a long story short..one night i was driving my car real hard down the high way...i was at idle and the car just shut off and would not start back up..2 hours later it start..since then the problem happens alot..the check engine light comes on and sometimes will blink..once i even had flames shoot out of my tail pipe followed by alot of black smoke..sometimes i can un plug the battery and play with the plugs and it will start back up..sometimes it wont..its REALLY weird and i dont know what to make of it..Once i was driving it hard and it shut off and would start for 2 weeks..PLEAE HELP !!..

I would have to agree with 2.4. Take out your ECU and pop the top off and look at the CAPS on the circuit board. If you smell anything in the process, usually kinda fishy(literally), then there you go. Or, obviously, if you see any scortch marks or burns on the board, not only around the CAPs but in other places aswell, then you should have them replaced. If thats the case then might I recommend Steve on here. Search for him and pm him. Hes a really nice, helpful guy and is great at repairing ECU's.

Yeah..i was thinking ECU related..or spark plus wires related..thanks alot guys..but please anyone who has idea post them..your help is welcome....do u know how much a new ecu would run or how much to repair it..thanks ALOT..chris

well, mitsu told me it was going to be 1200 dollars. i ended up looking the local classifieds for a junked 91 gst, and took his ECU for 100 bucks.
