I have an Ingersoll Rand Impact gun and pressure was about 105 psi behind it (60 gallon) . It wouldn't losen the cam gear bolt I was trying this just now and decided to not continue because I didnt want to risk breaking the bolt.

I want to try it tommorow by heating it up with a heat gun and 130 psi behind it any other opinions or experience with this?

I took my motor apart and could not get the cam bolts loose too. IT sucled I broke a vise tring to use a breaker bar to loosen those bad boys up with no luck. I took them to a shop and the guy grabed hid impact and put a towel over the cam grabed it with the other hand and bang they were loose. Pissed me off. Impact is the best choice.

Your gun is rather small. Before you do anything else, spray the bolt with some PBBlaster and let it sit overnight, then try again with the impact gun tomorrow. If it still doesn't work, go to Harbor Freight and buy their Earthquake air impact gun. It's cheap and puts out about 600 lbs of torque. Good luck.

Don't think he mentiond the torque of his impact gun, just the amount of pressure he's supplying it. They tell you to apply loctite when reinstalling the cam gear bolt so I would imagine it has some type of thread locker from the factory. If so so heat should help you out. Just be careful, if you do this with the cams still in the car you will probably damage the cam seals. When I did mine I broke them lose by hand but it was a two person job, one holding a large adjustable with a large pipe wrentch attached to the end of it handle holding onto the cam, then a large breaker bar on the cam bolt. I think I may even had to place a pipe over the breaker bar to add more leverage. Those buggers are defently on tight.

My gun isn't rather small and harbor frieght parts isnt something I would purchase for any serious work.

I have an Ingersoll-Rand 231C that does 600lb ft in reverse I'm also using a 1/2'' hose.

Sorry, didn't see your gun info on the initial post. Posting a psi is rather meaningless if you don't know the equipment used. I have been using the "cheap" hf gun for over 3 years extensively with not a single problem. It took my cam bolts out on the first try. I also have an IR which is sitting in the toolbox collecting dust. Again, apologies for my misunderstanding and good luck withthe bolts.
