I am having a very hard time adjusting my clutch in my 98 talon tsi awd. I installed a new master cylinder due to the old one leaking. The other day I had it adjusted good and to where it would engage at a good point, but it would get pump up due to not enough free play. I was on my way home when it was good and I went to push in my clutch pedal and it was very soft. I can't find any leaks in the stock line. When i try to adjust it now, no matter how far i have the adjustment rod extended, it will still engage right off the floor. What would cause this and what could I do to fix this? I have searched countless hours and spent hours adjusting and I can't figure it out. Any advice is GREATLY apreciated.

Normally that is where you want it to engage. Is it a new clutch or just a new master cylinder? Is the car hard to drive now because it engages right off the floor?

Yeah, when the pedal doesn't engage RIGHT off the floor it shifts very nice. But with it right off the floor it is difficult to drive. It is a new master cylinder but the clutch has been changed before. It seems like people with a possible similar problem are getting the stainless braided line from the MC to the SC and getting rid of the FCU to help their problems.

I'm having a similar problem but mine is slipping and engaging too high LOL. I ordered a new master and slave and ss line which should come on wednesday.

Sounds like you need a new pedal assembly, try this: push the clutch pedal all the way down and release, then grab the clutch pedal with your hands and pull up on it, if it moves at all your pedal assembly is shot...

I just did that and it didn't move at all. I just bled it..... again... I also adjusted the rod out further and adjusted the top of the pedal so it has freeplay. I'll post what happens from doing that.
