Hey everyone i need a little help here. I bought a 98 that had a 6bolt swap done already and on the cam angle sensor (1g) the number 1 plug was pulled out and had the wire just smashed in under the plug. Well i was messing with my ic piping and pulled it out. I had put it back on but now the car wont start so im thinking i pulled it out of where it is going. So i have been researching for days now and i cant find this plug. I follow the wire and it goes deep in the harness with alot of other wires and i dont want to mess anything els up so i just gunna run a new wire.

i don't have any way to put a pic, but if you are putting a 1g cas on a 2g head its the wire that would chop into the cam position sensor. I just ran a wire from the ecu to the cas and still nothing. Is there any way i can just rewire all the cas wires
to the ecu.

when I did my swap, I got the cable from RRE to swap the CAS.

RRE's website seems to be down right now, but the above link is a real good write up, and should help.

I bought mine from them too.

I buy almost all what I need from PRE.

I like them Because their Knowledge and VERY FAST SHIPPING.:sneaky:

Yea i seen the rre harness. But the guy who did the swap before me didn't make plugs he just hard wired every thing so i don't really know where to start. It wouldnt start then my buddy noticed the wire off so he put it on and it started then he took it off for some reason to try to wire it right because it was just shoved in between both ends of the plug. So he wired it into the wire next to it because he thought thats where it went because the clip only has three wires coming out and the 4th was cut right at plug. Well after he tried that he just pulled that wires apart and broke the wire lower. So i added wire and put it back how it has been and nothing it will crank but not start.

OK, Let's see how we can help.

Fist. What color is the wire that came off.

Second. Tell us what colors are the rest of the wires in the same order they appear
on the CAS.

Check the pin out at the ECu and check the wires to know which wire is which.

You just need to know what wires are coming from the ECU.

Pin out numbers are 88 and 89.

Here is a Thread that shows the pin out from the Crank and The CAM.

The wire that came off is Blue with a red stripe its the cam sensor that goes to pin 88 and ties on to the white wire from cas. The next wire is a yellow one on the cas and it goes to a blue wire coming from the crank sensor. then there is a red wire that goes to red and a black that goes to black and they both look like there going to ecu. So if i run a wire straight from 88 and 89 and leave the other two it should work?

If there is anyone in California near Fresno that wants to come help me out that would be great.

These Cam Angle Sensors have four wires. One is Power from the ECU which is red. Another is Black from the ECU which is ground. Then your other two wires are signals that represent the "home" and "trigger" events. Just reconnect the wires in their original order and everything will be fine.

He all ready did, and it didn't work.

There might be a bad wire that is not running the current wright from the ECU.

To the OP.

Forgot to mention to make sure your plug wires are swapped.

Other wise, it will not start.

Ok now that i know they just go to those pins ill try that out. Yea when my buddy pulled the wires apart he gave them all a good jerk. Does the red have enough power to be picked up with a voltage tester. Hey and thanks everyone for helping me out.

O and does the wire need to be like a special sensor wire or will normal wire the same gauge work.

Ok i tried to rewire it and still nothing. The car cranks but wont start. I put a test light on the power going to cas and it didn't light up. So i put the test light right on the power to ecu and i have no light there either. So im stumped now.

OK,

To do a quick test, do this.

Unbolt the CAS from the head.
Pull all your spark plug wires.
Turn the key to the ON position (engine NOT running).
Spin the CAS to verify all your spark plugs spark.

Obviously, this is with the 2 wires hooked up to the CAS (from the ECU).

If there is no spark, then your CAS is off, or there is no power.

If there is spark on all four, then your CAS is good.

If it is good, test the lines that were in the CAS before and redo the test.

This is just, to find out if one of the wires were bad.

Probably your CAS is good and the problem is something else.

Seriously, I am not sure, but I have search and it supposed to be 12v at the red wire, This wire comes from the ECU.
If you are not getting 12v, then I would say you have a problem at the ECU.

I would like to tell you to jump a wire with a fuse to put power to the CAS, But I am afraid that you can do some damage to your ECU, Unless you unhook the red wire that goes to the ECU.

I found this Thread on how to test a CAS.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/electrical-tech/394020-how-test-1g-cas.html#post152483382

I couldn't find anything regarding to the red wire with 12v.

I hope some one else jump in to give us some Info. about that.

Ho. It just came to my mind.

What about if the red wire is bad, (not making a good contact with the ECU).

Maybe is burn or something like that, which is not transferring the power to the CAS.

To make sure, test the wire from the CAS to the ECU, Or check the wire at the ECU to see, if It has 12v.

Ok that thread had alot of info in it. I am going to try some things and see what i get. I also changed my cas out to a 89-90 and i put it in just how mine looked when i pulled it out. Would that throw anything off, i mean i got it right on i think.

I checked both places on the wire with a test light and didnt get anything. I know the test light works because i checked on other 12v power. Is there a fuse thats for the computor i checked them all but maybe i missed somthing.

Do you have a Service Manual?.
If you don't, then Down load a Manual from here. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/fre...stions/324090-download-2g-service-manual.html

It looks like the CAS gets power from the MFI Relay.

If you see the Manual. It shows one line from the MFI to the following Sensors.

Idle air Control Motor.
EGR Solenoid Valve.
Evaporative Emission Purge Solenoid Valve.
Fuel Pressure Solenoid Valve.
Turbo Waste Gate Solenoid.
Crank and Cam. ( Which is you CAS).
Front and rear Oxygen Sensors.

For now, Just Hook up a wire from any of those sensors to the CAS to see what happens.

Your Manual will be your Eyes on this.

Let us know what happens.
