can't find a UDP

hey so as the title states, I am trying to locate a UDP for my 98 Ealge Talon ESi 420a engine. AF/X ones are not made anymore and cannot find any on ebay...any help is appreciated.
 
holy crap. ya...that's what i'm looking for but not willing to spend 924$ for one....AF/X ones were like 120.
 
Have you posted a wtb in our classifieds yet? That is the only way i can think of u getting one. I just hit google and ebay with no results so maybe there is a Dsmer with one laying around
 
I wouldn't be afraid to use an ebay one as long as you take it to a shop and have it balanced.
 
i can't even find an ebay one for the 420a that's not for the neon...

anyone know of a place that still has some af/x ones?

Yes, there are a few members on here that have got them balanced and run them without issues. Also, I would call Bomz and see if they cant do any better on the price because they were cheaper than that when they were on ebay, wont hurt to ask.
 
Whats the point of a 900$ UDP? Does it make you paint your car green and put "StreetGlow" lights on the bottom?

Yes 900 bucks is outragous the only this I could think of is if it weighed less than the other UDP at 1.9lbs. Also a UDP or underdrive pulley is not only lighter, thus lower rotational mass on your crank, but also it is a smaller diameter pulley and "underdrives" your alt, power steering and ac pump. That means instead of turning the driven items lets say 1000 times a min, it turns them 800 times a min (not actual numbers) so basically its doing less work. Example would be the gains you recieve from eliminating your ac and power steering. This would be smaller gains, however, you keep your ac and power steering. Hope that clears things up for you.
 
for the cost of that UDP, you could pull a nice running 4g63T out of the junk yards LOL

What are you goals for this car? even spending 45$ and the time it takes to install doesn't coincide with the benefit you would gain by the install.

If you want to gain 5-10HP then I recommend a header (Ebay has some nice ones but watch for cracking), Test Pipe (If you have no smog testing), and a nice cheap muffler (I have a N1 burnt tip from Ebay, they are around 30$). Also a CAI (Ebay also but change the filter to a good K&N or similar).

HP increases for the 420A are limited without Force Induction (Turbo or Supercharger). Turbo charging can be done on stock interals but only up to 5-8PSI (Some say 10PSI but It would need a tune of some sort). I have posted some threads and links below that may help.

I have another thread on the go with a full head rebuild i'm doing. I have about 2,000$ going into the head, and the UDP is just another upgrade to the engine. Turbo is in the works for a year from now.
