cant feel first or second

My transmission seems to shift way to smooth in 1st and 2nd. I cant feel it at all, but I know it is in gear, because when I spin the engine it spins the tranny with it. Any ideas? My car is awd tsi 91 talon bte forgot to mention.

Umm.... So you think something's wrong with your transmission because it shifts smooth?

Check your retaining clips on your shift cables. Mine fell off and I had the same problem.

On the front side of the bearing plate below the reverse switch there are three 14mm bolts. Take them out and clean the bores. Bottom one is the 1/2 detent and trash jams the ball bearings up sometimes. Do your transmission a favor as well by installing magnetic drain and fill plugs.

Ok I'll check all of that thanks! Also yes I am worried about it shifting to smooth because I cant feel first or second at all, but all other gears are perfect.
