I cant get my boost to go any lower than 20psi. Ive tried running one line from the wastgate to the P port on the tb, come to think of it ive switched the lines around so many times and nothing seems to work. MBC I got to work once, after the motor swap every thing I do I cant run less that 20. Any Ideas?

Jeesh! You tried running your wastegate of ported vacuum? WTF WHY?

That should be connected to the boost reference port on your j-pipe. If you still have problems, make sure your wastegate arm is connected, and that it opens.

I dont have a nipple port on my j-pipe, the wastgate bolts are tight. I was told that i could run a single line from wg to p port and I would run the min amount of boost but thats not the case, so does that mean the wg is bad.

Make a nipple port on your j-pipe. It's easier than you think and can solve your problem.

Step-by-step:
1) Buy a brass hose barb fitting
2) Remove J-pipe
3) Drill hole in J-pipe
4) Tap J-pipe for whatever size fitting you bought
5) Thread in fitting with teflon tape and re-install J-pipe
6) Connect wastegate pressure signal straight to the hose barb fitting
7) Boost controlled

Its a stock wastgate. and i dont know what ported vacuum is but i couldnt remember where all the lines went so i was switching them in hopes to get it right. could i be potentially giving my turbo a death sentence when i do that or is there any damage done when i get the lines wrong? cause i dont have the best understanding about boost and vacuum and junk it just kinda cunfuses me. Oh and thanks Dennis for that advice, thats a great inexpensive solution.

When you get the lines mixed up, it won't kill your turbo, but it will make things work incorrectly or not work at all, like the wastegate. What will kill your turbo and maybe even your motor is overboosting. It's best to get your vac lines sorted out so everything's hooked up as it should be. If you take a picture or two, maybe we can help you figure it all out.

You should have a vacuum line diagram sticker under your hood. If not, you could use a haynes manual or download the service manual. If you are using a manual boost controller and installing the nipple in your j-pipe you will disregard the wastegate part of the diagram and run it this way: (J-Pipe Nipple)-->(MBC)-->(Wastegate)

Then set boost with your gauge, and you should be good! if not, your wastegate is most likely bad.

I was thinking about getting a Tial WG, how does that set up with the 16g what else would i need?

I also wanted to mention that when I hold my boost at oh lets say 10 psi i hear the turbo or BOV start to flutter as its still pulling??

Im gonna try my other stocker untill I can find time to get that nipple on the j-pipe, ill try to get some pics up here too. Ill let you guys know how it goes. Thanks.

I didnt notice an aftermarket BOV the last time I checked your profile. If its the stock 1g it will begin to leak around 10-13psi at that point you either crush it dodge garage mod it or buy a new one. I run a crushed 1g w no issues.

Ok so i switched my wastgate to my other stock wastgate, hooked up the vac line the same way (wastgate to throttle body pressure) and it runs fine. boost is at 10 psi, i think it hits about 12 in first gear, second and third 10 psi and it kinda drops alittle to 9 1/2 psi.
So it turns out, the guy i bought the turbo from said the boost held rock solid at 25psi, and that it never saw anything lower than 20, so do stock wastgates kinda get accustom to running high boost, and then eventually not being able to turn it down? Cause my bet is that the wastgate is still good if u want to run high boost, more than im willing to run, especially with a partially damaged turbo. im glad i got the boost down when i did though, cant afford another one, and when i do its gonna be big!!! hehe!! thanks guys.
