can you use dsmlink and skip manual ecu?

well i know you need to change the ecu if you change your injectors. so instead of getting a ecu to control the injectors. can you just buy a dsmlink?thanks

It doesn't matter if you start with a AT EPROM ECU or a MT EPROM ECU. The only difference between the two is the code in the chip, so once you put the DSMlink chip in they will function the same.

does this go for 2g AT's as well? can i substitute a manual eprom ecu to work in my 98 gsx? i will be using dsmlink.

2G ECU's are the same between cars, but for DSMlink you need a '95 ECU because it has an EPROM. TCU is indendent of the ECU.

just to make 100% sure i am hearing this right... i CAN use a 95 E-PROM ecu from a MANUAL in my 98 auto... ***still using the 98 TCU?***

i dont want to have to hunt down this auto awd 95 eprom.

As far as I can tell the 2G Turbo MT and AT ECUs are the same part within the matching years

You just need a 95 EPROM ECU regradless if it came out of a auto or manual it will work in your car... I know because I have seen many people do it with no problems..

I got my EPROM out of a 95 awd 5spd

Its in a 99 GST Auto now...

Same here. I have a 95 EPROM ECU form an AWD 5spd in my FWD AT. The ECU does not control the transmission at all, it is more of air/fuel/timing paramaters. The fact that all 2gs have the same turbos, injectors, etc. is why we can swap out anything. You WILL NOT regret going to DSMLink. It's the most worthwhile mod I have done yet, besides the Tech Edge.

I was looking but I couldn't find a price, how much are those going for?

They're there, just have to convert AusD to USD. I picked mine up for an unbelievable $300 with a new sensor and display. I just got lucky. There are others out there, like PLX, AEM, etc.. which are a little more affordable. I believe the setup that i have brand new shipped from Australia is something in the $5-700 range depending on options.
