can out of phase balance shaft cause this?

A few days ago while I was driving my car I got a really bad noise/vibration at about 4000 rpm. After searching around a bit I came to the conclusion that my balance shaft or oil sprocket are out of phase. My problem is that of all the posts I read about it no one talked about a having low idle with frequent stalling, wich is happening to me. I'm sure the noise and the stalling are related because they both started at the exact same time. My question is, can the out of phase balnce shaft, wich I'm sure is causing my noise at 4k rpm, also cause frequent stalling.

Have you changed your timing belt recently? If not....it could be that one of your balance shafts is going. I'd try rotating the engine by hand seeing if all your marks line up. Then try the screwdriver trick under the head to see if that shaft is in phase.

If that doesn't give you a solution, I'd look to remove the balance shafts just to be safe. If one of them does go....bad times.

No, i havn't changed my timing belt recently. So you think it's probably the balance shaft. Do you think it's also causing my stalling, because the noise/vibration started at the exact same time that my car started stalling.

its a good possibility...if u can get in there look and see if its out of time with the crank. it could have also possibly spun a balance shaft bearing. if the balance shaft is out of time, remove the belt and see if it runs any better. my balance shaft belt broke and i just took it out and left the balance shafts there. it will still be a little rough above 4000 rpm, but it will just be an annoyance and not a threat to anything else.
