Can my eprom on in ecu be saved from water?

I have a eprom ecu that got some water on the part of the ecu where the wiring harness connectors went. The eprom part is at the other end. Can the eprom be desoldered and put onto a non-eprom ecu? Can the ecu be saved?

There's more difference between EPROM and non-EPROM ECUs besides the chip. As previously stated, there's no way to convert from non-EPROM to EPROM. There's no way to know if the ECU can be saved without seeing it - can you break it open and take good, high-res pictures? We might have an idea of what you're dealing with then.

Did the water penetrate the actual housing of the ECU or just get sprayed on the connectors? Does the car not run at all now? Has your ECU been socketed? If the ECU isn't socketed and you need a new ECU you will just have to buy a replacement EPROM ECU for between $190 and $300. Most likey if water got in and the was power on, something inside shorted. If there was no power there is a chance that you can remove it and dry it out and have no problems. Good luck..
