Can I use this BOV??

yes you could use it, but venting really isnt a good idea unless your running a GM maf-t setup. . you'll get alot of opinions but i know myself when i vented my 2g ran like crap after about 2 weeks after i had install the turbo xs rfl.. recirculation your bov back into the intake pipe.

Please update your vehicle profile and put the mods you got on there.

Also sound should not be the main reason you are getting a BOV. Perhaps you should read/research a bit more.

Read threads andf ind sound clips to see what you like, I know there are some that will have a "whoosh" sound recirculated. I'm not sure because I have no experience, but the 1g, hks recirculated has a whoosh sound recirculated. The greddy type S also, then it follows with a laser sound. The Type RS is definitely a whoosh sound.

If you want to vent, do it properly as the person above you mentioned.

You should upgrade to a 1g bov or something that recirulates, If not your going to have to use the Maf-t setup like mentioned above, Running a bov without the maf-t setup is a bad idea. Seach the forums you will find plenty of threads on this subject. P.S - My greddy type s still makes that sound and its recirulated. Hope this helps :dsm:

Why run open atmosphere? For our setups there really isn't a huge upside to that. You lose more of your built up boost if you run a open atmosphere setup on the car. Your not making ungodly amount of power, so there really isn't a huge benefit or point. Run a recirculated setup, you will be happier in the end. That and our cars factory tuned tend to run like crap with open atmosphere, so I wouldn't even bother. Now DSM link does have a option to run open atmo., but at this point where you are, I wouldn't bother goin that route, if your doing it strictly to just hear your BOV, then maybe you shouldn't be driving a turbo car? j/k:p :dsm:

ok, ok guys give me a break! haha yes i want to hear it but its not all i want out of it!! i like this type-s BOV and was wondering if it is a direct bolt on application? If not what do i have to do to make it work?

Its not a direct bolt on, you need a weld on flange. Or just upgrade to an upper i/c pipe with a type s flange already on there. :dsm:

I have the GReddy RS, and it is recirculated. I still get head turns when it releases, even though it is putting it back into the intake. I tried to vent to the atmosphere, just to see what it sounded like, yeah it was louder but the car ran like crap.

Get an upper ic pipe flanged for Greddy bovs, or buy the bov adapter on ebay for cheap. Then you can use your stock ic pipe.

BTW, to the person who said you can run your BOV to the atmosphere with DSMLink, I like to know how to do this, because I have dsmlink as well as others, and am not aware of this feature.

okie dokie, uhm where do i get one of those haha

http://dsm.dejonpowerhouse.com/

Click "DSM", look in left column for 2g "Sidemount IC & Pipes", click on that and scroll down in the right hand frame. You'll see a few options for intercooler pipes. To keep the stock 2g MAS, you need part number "UIP-2ga" which comes with options for BOV flanges and powdercoat colors. Couple this with "UIP-2gb" to get a complete hard upper intercooler pipe tract.

If you want to go with a MAFt in blow-through setup, keep scrolling down to "UIP-2gd." That doesn't include the GM MAF or Translator however. That's the only way you can properly vent your BOV, other than running a MAP sensor or VPC.

Please readhttp://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=113858
and feel free to search the site for other experiences with venting BOV's and the results. Also, BOV's are generally regarded as parts that it's not wise to skimp on, since a BOV failure could theoretically cause some very serious problems. When in doubt, go with a name brand or reputable vendor. The ebay BOV you linked to has no name attached to it and therefore, no technical support for it if it breaks. With a Greddy, HKS, etc. at least if the part breaks, you can contact them for a replacement, replacement parts, or assistance.

Neither am I.

=just2asianNow DSM link does have a option to run open atmo.,

Can you specify where you found this option on the DSMLink menu or the user's guide?

The stock intercooler piping is roughly 2.25" to 2.5" at some points, but near the airbox, the stock plastic intercooler pipe kinks and narrows to about 1.5" or so.

He must have misinformed you. I don't believe anyone can run to the atmosphere just by getting DSMLink. If so myself as well as the thousands of people who have it would do it as soon as we got ours. Either he misinformed you, or he is running his car the wrong way. Perhaps he was running blow-thru/gm-maf and using dsmlink to tune it.

Regardless, no one can just buy dsmlink and run their bov to the atmosphere.

Regardless, those bovs are garbage. My friend has an actual Turbo XS type H (pretty much the same one in that link) First, the thing surges like crazy, we put 8, yes 8 washers behind the 4 that were already behind the spring to try to tighten it, and it still surges. Second, the thing leaks at 4 psi!!! They are said to hold 35psi, complete garbage.

I think everyone basically said what is needed in this thread, but I am inclined to tell you that a $14.95 BOV will not last that long. I have an HKS reciirc. and it sounds mean as hell. I suggest going with a trusted company. Buying products like this from eBay is just asking for trouble.
