I have searched for days trying to get a direct answer and have came up empty. I am needing a block and crank for a forged build. All I can find in the yards in rebuildable condition are from at least a 2000 neon. If I can use it what will I have to modify?
thanks for your help.
I already have a good condition 2001 rt magnum neon motor, would that block be interchange

If it is a 420A block then it is good for use as far as I know[DOUBLEPOST=1410387985][/DOUBLEPOST]just make sure you use the proper internals and parts

Aren't the neon motors all based on the 420a prier 03? I got a decent bit of the 420a internals so whatever i block I get has to fit my parts, don't want to buy them all again.

Yes. 95 to 99 neon, eclipse, talon and avenger are all the same 420a. Motor mounts are same too IIRC. Trans bell housings are the same but the gearing is different.

I know I can use a 95-99
but problem is the ones in the yard aren't practical to rebuild.I did find some good 2000-2001 blocks and I own a neon 2.0 rt sphc magnum motor. Would they also work?
I guess my confusion is,what is different between the 99 2.0 sohc/dohc neon block and the newer 2000 and up?

so it looks as if I CANT use the 01 magnum block I have and will have to try and hunt down a good 95-99

One could use the 95 block but it would seem like too much of a hassle to use without modification to some of the systems. GL with the build. If I were you, I would document everything and take pics and then write a Tech Article on using it for here on the forum. That way if someone else wants to do the same thing, there would be some sort of guide for it here on tuners. The 420a specific tech articles could use some new things. I'll be working on one later today and this weekend for the 420a section.

if I do the 01 rt magnum block I will take pics every step of the way the 420a forum is like the ugly sister, doesn't get much action.i am going to verify that the block is compatible, before I rip apart a complete and fully functional magnum. I have a 2g neon 5spd with acr trans that can use it as well.
