I know maaco is individually owned and quality will vary but I would like to see some close up pics of the presidential paint job and any other level. It does have a 2 year warranty against peeling or flaking, which should put me at ease. Also does any one know if wet sanding is included? I was looking at the special they have on TV for $275. And i know that you get what you pay for when it comes to body work.

Thanks

ask and ye shall reciveve................ i was VERY PLEASED with the job , just take off your taillights and headlights , sidemarkers.......before paint....

What level of paint job did you recieve and did it look anywhere close to a factory finish as fair as the way it shined with the clearcoat they use? Also haw long have you had it with the paint job done and has it remained the same quality?

thanks

ive schooled in auto body/paint, and seriously..its all in the prep. these guys at macco paint ALL DAY LONG...every day...they cant help but eventually get good. the trick is to prep the car yourself. and pick a no brainer color. (i chose black..since they OVERSPRAY like mad men, choosing black eliminated that worry for me, since whoever maskes their cars suck)

i came into a position where i had to have my car done within days and couldnt get into a spray booth to do it myself. soooo i preped the crap out of my car. pulled out EVERYTHING from handles, lights...EVERYTHING and had them spray the car black with their cheapest paint job with the color hardener (alot of the addatives they sell you is gimmic)

all they had to do was roll the car in and spray. they suck at anything else! dont let them do body work or prep it! my car came out looking dam dam DAM good. everyone flipped out. it looked SERIOUSLY good. it lasted a year until some chemical dripped all over my car and stained the paint but by then i was able to spray the car myself.

best of all...a $200 paint job that looked like a $2000 job and lasted me a year :thumb:

(paint alone for a good base coat clear coat typically costs around $500)

Can you tell me a little more about the overspray. Like were and what problems it causes if the car is one color.

Yes, but the two year warranty will cover all of that. Which will help me with the decition.

You've heard it before, you'll hear it again - you get what you pay for. You could paint it with 12 cans of $0.99 Krylon and it will look good from 20 feet back in certain lighting and for 6 months.

I have a 97-99 front bumper there being painted right now. I pick it up Tommorow. Ill post some pics of the job they do. They cut me a deal. I would have sprayed it but i have no access to the equiptment to spray it so they were my alternative for now.

50/50 paintjob....50 feet or 50mph wouldnt wanna get any closer

My talon the guy before me painted it through macco but the job cost 1100 and the guy that worked there painted it was a family friend, it looks hella good though, its factory quality.

The metal showing is the little metal strip under the weather stripping, they didnt paint that cuz its suppose to stay flat black, but heres a OK pic.

Well first off I'll explain the package I chose..I wanted the paint to last I didn't want it too ghetto looking:
- Supreme Package (Urethane Paint)
- Full Clear Coat
- Gravel Guard
- Door Jams ($100)
- Value Prep
Total of $1,089

I'm not going to bs you, they didn't do too well of a preping job as you can see with the close up the front 1/4 panel has pretty bad orange peel but the rest of the car is fine. Please also note that it is metallic in color so its not going to shine as well as a normal color. If I had to do it all over again the only thing I'd change is I would have prepped the vehicle myself.

I have a very hard time believing that maaco really does a good sanding job..I believe they just take fine grit sandpaper to the vehicle for a couple of hours and call it a day.

Also remember that maaco performance varies from place to place..you could have a vehicle turn out better than mine, or worse than mine.

I'll finish by saying I liked it enough to justify spending more money to get my new front end painted by them again.

When I first got my car, I went to Maaco to get a color change quote. The guy told me to take it to a nicer paint shop because I wanted a quality job. He admitted they don't do the best job prepping and sanding. And that if a single pebble bounces up and hits my hood while driving, it would take off the new paint and I'd have burgundy specs underneath LOL.

krummel, the $275 offer is terrible. They'll hardly prep the car at all...and they don't even use a clearcoat. If you want your car to look good, you'll be dissapointed.

My friend has his Coraddo painted at Macco and it looks like someone took cans of spraypaint and sprayed his car. I wouldnt do it... and 2 years against flaking... that doesnt seem very long.

From what ive been told , some maccos are good , some bad .......

the guy that owns the one i went to does restorations , so he understood the quality i wanted.

i paid $500 flat for my paint job. 2 stage + clear

and they did all my body work , which came out really nice.........

I Had my car painted their about 4months ago, It came out really good for a 350$ paint job. You can tell at like lil corners like under the side mirror tht it had the color of the previous color. But I was a bad judge in color, I picked a dark blue mettalic and it came out with a hint of purple.

But now I got my buddy club2 front and I took it back for them to put a white icy pearl on it and everything came up to 850$ including the installation of the bumper.

Ill post pics when i get it back monday

most these paint jobs look pretty good..

I guess you do get what you pay for but the 500 dollar paint jobs dont look that much worse than the 6,000+ paint jobs i've seen.

I mostly like maco beacuse of their speed, my car got quoted at 4-6k and at least 2 months time

Experiances may vary however I would never let maaco paint my car. Some of them don't even include the door jambs and if it is a color change don't even ask them about matching up the engine bay. I have painted two cars and I did both to the specs that my dad's corvette was painted professionally for about $4000. I sand off the original color, not use a cheap spray to get it of which destroys any time of rubber or plastic. I also wet sand between each coat. It cost me $1200 for the first car then $800 for the next one because I had the tools aready.

All I am saying is that $300 is a good deal of money when you have to pay $2000 to have someone do it the right way. Two grand will get you a very decent paint job, maybe even $1500 if you find a deal.

Don't be fooled by the fact that the maaco jobs look ok at first. Does anyone have any pics of a maaco job that has been done over a year ago?

if that guy that posted above about getting his front bumper painted reads this.. id love to see some pics of it and hear how much you paid for just the front bumper.
