Ive got a 1990 TSi FWD and the mods i have so far is a o2 dump housing, test pipe, dejon intake, k/n filter, and the free mods. I kno I need a boost gauge but can i run 15 psi safely with the mods i have right now? Also which is a good cheap mbc, maybe around $80-100..

Yes it is safe, I run 15 PSI on my stock 14b turbo, I have a autometer boost guage, a 3 inch intake, and a homeade boost controller, the only time I have problems is on cool evenings when the boost may spike to 16 or 17 psi due to air density. Buy a boost guage, and turn it up, My buddy paid 68 bucks shipped for his Turbos XS MBC, it works very well also. Though I paid about 6 bucks to make mine:)

Your car should definitely be to handle 15 psi day in and day out, but before you turn up the boost, make sure you get a boost gauge. There are SO MANY horror stories out there about people accidentally running 39 psi without even knowing it (and consequently destroying their engine).

hehehe, I was just exagerating to emphasize the importance of a boost gauge. In reality if you overshoot your boost using a 14b, you'll probably be looking at around 20-25 psi maximum output, which is still enough to destroy an unprepared engine (especially with no race gas). There are large ball bearing turbos that can go well and beyond 39 psi.

They DO make a 60 psi boost gauge... so... who wants to claim they got their 14b to 60psi? LOL jp
