Can I bondo these holes ?

sup guys, i need to get rid of my RS eclipse but i put a turbo wing on the car and i was left with holes, i dont want to put the stock wing back on cause it will cost basically the same amount to patch the holes and repaint from were i drilled the holes to mount the turbo wing. These little holes are tiny squares about 3 to 4 centimeters Square, Do you think i can slap some bondo over them sand primier and paint, will the bondo hold up. the clearest picture i can get of the holes is before the wing was actually painted, im not sure if it helps but do you think the bondo would hold up.

ofcourse u can bondo and paint them! thats what bondo does! and if the bondo is properly mixed with the hardener it will surley hold up. when u buy the bondo make sure you read the intructions and follow them to the T, and wear gloves n a mask.

I used JB weld on mine. I wasn’t really intending it to be permanent but it may just be.

-Use a tiny file to grind out the holes.
-Apply masking tape over the top of the hole and cut through the tape to the shape of the hole.
-Apply tape from underneath to back the hole for filling.
-Overfill slightly with JB weld.
-When filler is firm, scrape off the excess with a razor blade.

I thought you got the wing painted and the holes filled back when you were working @ Mac Grill.

Welding is the best option.But if you must use a filler, DO NOT use Bondo.Bondo is not waterproof, so you don't want to use it where one side is exposed.Use Duraglass or similar, which is a fiberglass reinforced waterproof filler.

yea water and bondo aren't friends and the bondo WILL run away if they see each other :laugh:

I like this idea or u could use a type of filler called Kitty Hair or somethin like that that has fiberglass in it cause the bondo will crack in time bc there is nothing on the back holdin it. Just a thought.

Not only will it crack, but the metal will rust as well.

Ok here it goes. The problem with filling drilled holes is that they ussually will crack out. Dont use BONDO! ACK I cant believe you guys even suggested that. It sucks up water and mosture and it doesnt hold up for sh**. There are three ways you can fill the holes. I will start with the best.

1. Weld and grind.

pros:
Will not fall out ever if done right.

cons:
Could warp the metal around if the person welding is not carefull

2. All Metal

pros: Much stronger then any bondo or poly based filler. You can do the work yourself.

Application:
Sand down to bare metal in the area you are going to fix. Make sure there is no RUST! Take a screw driver or something slightly larger then the hole. Support the underside of the metal and tap the hole down slightly. The hole needs to be indented so the allmetal has something to grasp beside the edges of the hole. Sand flush with the rest of the metal. Prime and repaint. Ohh and dont use that cheap a** walmart car primer.

cons:
Shouldnt fall out. I have never had any problems filling holes and cracks.

3. Kitty hair poly based filler

Pros: Not many beside easy to work with

Application: Same as above except make sure you use a sealing primer on the bare metal before you lay down the filler.

Cons: Not as strong as the above metals. Has a good possiblity of cracking. Can still absorb water if not sealed properly. You may have fiberglass hairs screwing up your final paint job.

4. Bondo

JUST DONT USE IT

i used the filler JB weld i was gonna just throw blue construction tape around the circles/squares and spray right over it, instead of having to sand down the hole panel and repaint

That may not be the best idea since you'll get tape lines after its primed and painted, It may be easier to repaint a fair amount of the panel.
