when i first bought my car(91 tsi) it idled good. I did not put it on the street till a week ago.

While it was sitting in my yard, i did the maf air flow mods. I took off the lower screen and the round silencer behind the maf. I also hooked the pressure line from the j-pipe directly to the waste gate i'm running only 9psi now until i get mbc.

I don't use the boost control solenoid. it is just sitting there still pluged up.

The battery was not in the car for a month so i never started it since the first day i bought it. Now when i started it i am having idle problems. I also hit fuel cut at 5,000 rpm in every gear.

can the maf be causing the idle problems? I wll buy a stock maff to see but i would like ya input.
Can the maf also cause high air readings and cause fuel cut?
or is fuel cut caused from not using the boost control solenoid?

With the hacked mas you will see less air, fuel cut is based on airflow.

You most likely have a boost leak somewhere whihc is causing you to hit fuel cut.

Also the car should idle fine with the lower honeycomb.

Your MAF isn't "hacked", you just pulled the lower honeycomb out. That barely does anything, pretty much just raises fuel cut from the stock 16psi to like 18-19psi by leaning out the AFR slightly and letting a bit more airflow through the non-metered section. Hacked means there's nothing left of the lower section and you'd need an AFC or something to compensate or else the car wouldn't run very well, if at all.

what about the fact that i don't connect any vac/boost lines to my boost control solenoid.

To make up for the bad idle i have to loosen the idle screw. today while driving the screw blew off somewhere in the stret. to keep from constantly starting the car over and over at each stop light i twisted tissue paper in the idle screw hole. the car held idle better than when it had the actual idle screw in there . idle was still not steady though. may be the idle screw was the problem. I belive they have a seal on them can the seal be a cause of boost leak?

i was just thinking that i made the mistake by trying to raise idle by loosening the idle screw. i was just reading that idle speed should be adjusted by some clamp of someting. i need to read further.

cause if the screw is not tight it will come off again. and a loose idle screw is equal to a boast leak.

There is an o-ring on the idle set screw. Old ones dry up and leak over time. I had a big fat boost leak there last time I tested. New o-ring and all is good.

if the ia screw is loosened up then your car will run like pooh. the tend to back off on there own over time. if it is too loose then there will b a lack of vacumm and it will run poopi.u can check your mechanical boost gauge (god forbid u dont have one), and check your vacumm at idle. u can adjust it for about 20. i c with mine that it run perfect right around 20ish gets bad about 5-10. so maybe this can help. if u have mods then u can also use an afc to ajust the low throttle fuel map.
