can clutch MC let fluid blow back

I bought a new Master and slave cylinder for my clutch and after replacing the slave I started to pull the parts to get at the Master Cylinder when I noticed it looked almost brand new..... so I decided to risk it and leave the existing one in.

anyway so I bled the line and got good pedal pressure, I then got the car towed to a garage where they will be replacing my timing belt, tensioner, water pump, pulleys all of it... anyway after the tow I asked the guy who helped me push the car into the parking spot to push on the clutch pedal and let me know if it still felt solid...... it didn't, their was no feel at all the the pedal fell to the floor.

so now I'm a little annoyed and start pumping the pedal from the side of the car in the lot but now it's not building up much pressure so I pop the hood and check the reservoir... it's still full in fact it looks like it's got a little more than it had so I'm wondering if the MC might be done and is letting the oil blow back into the reservoir?

anyone heard of it?

i had the sam,e problem... i had to bleed it a couple of times for it to start working... it would work but when i would get up in the morning to start it the pedal would fall to the floor... and had to pump it with my hand to make it come back up...!!!!

you still got air in the line bro bleed and bleed again trust me i did the same thing when i put on my SS lines i had to bleed it 3-4 times and it worked like a charm

this is probably a bit off topic but very related, i just had a new clutch installed and im missing about 2 inches of pedal before i get anything, i can pull the pedal up with my foot and it stays.. but has zero resistance.. i drive it but it feel that its not disengaging sometimes... how do i get my pedal back?

Adjust the rod as per that video, i had a similar problem and after doing it like the video it became perfect.

Is it a 90-94? If so, than the nut inside the pedal assembly has come loose. Pull it back into position, get a 1.5 to 2" long 14mm socket, put it inside the metal cylinder on the gas pedal side and crank it down

so from what I understand from the video I'm actually supposed to allow the fluid to have the option to blowback so that it can self adjust... if I don't it likely will cause pressure that would cause it to slip..... hmm thanks for the video.

I'll tell the garage to leave it alone and will take care of it at home.

ok, im a bit lost... after i finally got my head under the dash... i didnt see anything that the clutch pedal was connected to... i saw 2 switches and one bolt on the upper side but it looked like a stopper... i did see something that looked like a sideways spring over by the gas, is that where i should be lookng/adjusting?

problem resolved.

replaced master cylinder along with the slave, bled it and drove away.
