1G Can anyone name this mystery part?

Hey all; I'm not sure if I've posted in the correct forum, but I was hoping that someone could tell me what this part is? I started working on my first gen eclipse a couple of years ago and I've finally gotten around to nearly completing the project. However, since its been so long my memory is a bit hazy as to what parts go where and even sometimes what the parts even are. If you could just take a look at the part that I've attached to this post and try to tell me what it is and where it goes I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks for your time!!

That lokjs like a charcoal canister used for emissions. If so you could eliminate it if you like.

+1 on charcoal canister. There should be a bracket on the engine side of the passenger firewall.

Pretty sure that's a fuel filter...for a Subaru.

I'm with Justin on this. The stock charcoal canister looks nothing like what's pictured, and it looks to have barbed fuel hose fittings.

Thanks a lot guys! When I got the car a friend of mine had actually just gotten a Subaru WRX and a bunch of parts. I let him store the parts at my house and he must have forgotten about this particular part.
