Vague picture, but do you mean the cam seal? Valve cover gasket?

And yeah, everything affects performance. It's why they put parts in cars. It just depends on what act you're trying to perform.

Camshaft Bearing cap, or camshaft position sensor (same as CAS I think, too many acronyms), or Valve cover gasket.

It's definitely the camshaft sensor. It has a little o-ring gasket inside. You probably need to replace that gasket. Of course, you should check that it's tight first.
