Hey guys, just wondering if anybody could tell what was different in this DSM (compared to OEM) besides the drop, and if you like it... it's an idea i've been toying around with that hasn't been done to many cars in a long time.
Did it in Photoshop real quick to see how it'd turn out.

Well, yeah. I didn't do any clean up work after the chop, but basically I did a choptop. Lowered the roofline about 3" (to scale) and leaned the front windshield back. Moved the hatch accordingly (slanted as well). I was hoping it'd give the car a more sporty/aggressive look. Quoted at around 2500 for the job. Don't know if it's worht 2500 though... hahaha, rather have an FPGreen or something.

LOL, as if the head room was already lacking. looks cool though. im not so sure itll look as great in real life.

ummm the wheels are painted black?

haha but all jokes aside, i would not consider doing that. i love the stock body lines. what i dont like, though, is the absolutely bulbous glass in the rear hatch. if you were to remove the hatch entirely and do a flat painted panel over the trunk ala a honda del sol, you would have a one-of-a-kind looking dsm with a shitload less rear weight to boot. you'd have to fabricate a rear window of some kind, though, or use one out of an mr2 or fiero or something.

but still imagine how cool that would look.

I have been thinking of doing that. I first got the idea for my girlfriends 2g crx, it would be a 2g3g but I think the eclipse would look bad ass too. I am thinking something a little sportier looking and MRish like the mr 2.
I will make you one greyforrest :D

Lol thanks a lot yoshi for using my car as one for one of your experiments. Tsk tsk. :p

I actually asked about doing the rear hatch thing.... and the quote was around 2000. Anyways, i photoshopped that too, and one thing that you'll notice is that the shape of the car is based a lot on that bulbous rear window, so when removed, it chops the shape greatly. It looks a lot like a truck, but still. I'm going to try to talk the guy down, since I was seriously considering that.

:thumbdown it makes the car look to long. the overall stock shape is 99% perfect, and like they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

lets just make it into an el camino.

Well, you have to take off the hatch, not just the glass.

But it looks like shit. So yeah, just like a Del Sol. The MR-2 works because they stole the window treatment off the Dino.

Of course, if you got a hatch off a Pulsar NX, it'd make it all better.

Thank god I couldn't find a picture of one with the station wagon hatch. Of course you 'd make them swappable, just like that godawful wheeled turd NX. :barf:

I like it for the most part it looks more like an NSXDSM. The lines just need a little refinement to clean it up a little. My thought was to continue the roof line down and back far enough the back window allowed use of the back seats. If the window went about 2/3 twards the back of the back window it would be in the perfect place to make a headrest for passengers ;)

If you could chop the back alone right, u could maybe get it to look like an acura nsx maybe...... but i think thats way to much trouble for somtin like that, unless your rich and dont give a crap about money i say leave it be and put the money towards more productive mods..... or give your money to me and ill spend it on some parts for my car

you could just leave it alone..... Our roofs aren't high enough to chop. And the back window.... come on, what are we trying to do here? Thats just ghey. I'd rather put my vinyl graphic and 12" wing back on. I should be shot for ever doing that.... :thumb:

with T-tops removed and a wide body kit, it would look similar to a carrera gt

If you call taking that lead weight off the back and putting a 20 pound composite back in it's place ghey, then ghey I will dream.

Ah, so all your friends are dwarves. Headless horsemen?

I like the chop top look, and if cheaper, I would have done it. However, you seem to be right, at 5'10" I'm not that tall, but am still pretty close to the roof. So even though I think it looks really cool, it's not feasible. The removed hatch, seems to look worse everytime I look at it, so no dice either. Either way, FPGreen here I come.
