hey guys i'm station in the U.K. and right now my car has been running like shit and it seems it starting to crankwalk now. The first piston is acting up and has been in low compression and same as the other piston. I was thinking getting rid of the 7 bolt and get and EVO III engine. so far i don;t know it will fit on a 2 gen FWD. do i need a tranny swap and and engine swap? will it fit? is it going to be a 6 bolt motor? Are most evo have crankwalk? how many horsepower will it give me? do i need to change the ECU and wire since it and evo engine?

Yep. I've got one.

It's a 7 bolt and will bolt right up to your tranny and wire right up to your ecu. The actual HP gains will be minimal, but 9.0:1 pistons will bring a little more torque and quicker turbo spool. CW isn't a big deal with the 7 bolts anyway (depends on who you ask), but I've "heard" the evo's CW rate is much lower.

Please don't get one just to tell people you have an evo engine. If your engine is blown (like mine was) and there's one available that you can get a deal on (like I did), then go for it. Just don't be one of those "I got a JDM evo engine yo!!!"

cool so and EVO 1-3 engine can fit on a FWD and i though the wire will be differents since i;m in the u.k? so its going to be lower horspower than my stock GST. though evo have better internals and a 16g turbo and most evo are way beyond like 250 hps- 280 hps? do i need a FMIC since its and EVO engine? does it have crankwalk like all the others 4G63 in the state??????  will it run fine as a daily driving?? what do i need for parts ( ECU, wire, mounts, -like a swaping a B16a on a civic) to get it run as daily driving? rebiult the turbo?? kinda new on this 4g63 swap? help

dude just get the stock engine... why do u want an evo one so bad? get a 6 bolt from a 1990-94 and have a very strong block and no crankwalk... and you can even take the injectors and good stuff on your blown engine to make your new engine that much better... doesnt make sense to me if you walked your engine to get another engine that might walk as well...

It's the same motor, without provisions on the block for motor mounts. It comes with a different intake manifold (cyclone) and injectors/turbo. Other than that, the sensors etc. are the same, and it will plug in like yours does, just swap your accessories onto it.

You will need to tune for the bigger injectors/turbo, but other than that you'll be fine, and in stock form it will make more power, only since it uses a 16g instead of a t25.

he is getting an evo engine because he lives in england and evos are sold there therefore their engines are available. Finding a usdm 4g63 would be alot harder for him.

o.... well that makes sense.. about the evo engine.. I didnt know he lived over there. And Im not retarded I know all engines can walk... but I have never heard of anyone complaining about 1g's walking. they have a different design for the throw out bearing which allows for better lubrication. the reason the 2gs occaisionally walk is because the throw out bearing is not correctly lubricated which creates extra wear and movement in the crankshaft... or at least thats how I understand it.

None of yall actually read ppl posts do u? He said an evo 3 engine. Up until the evo 3 or 4, the 4g63 was exactly like ours and then it changed to the one u sent the link to.

evo I-III motors bolt right into 2gs evo IV-VIII motors are flipped around so the t-belt is on the other side, they take a LOT of customizing to fit in and arent worth it

All you had to do was read the first line of his post to see where he was :shhh:
On the other hand, throwout bearings have nothing to do with crankwalk - they put pressure on the pressure plate to disengage the clutch disk. The THRUST bearing on the crank is where the problem is supposedly created that causes crankwalk.

Ive heard that the EvoIII 7 bolt has a stronger bottom half of the engine than a 6 bolt. Things like a girdle holding everything together. I dont know specifics, but I have a friend with a EvoIII engine stroked to 2.3l that dynod at a little over 600hp on pump gas (with a 1.24 correction for altitude). That would make about 450-500 actual hp on 91octane.

What Im saying is he knows enough, and Ill take his word for it.
