My previous MAF went bad and the part I ordered from RockAuto was also giving me CEL codes for MAF related stuff so we decided to put in a MAF from a Lancer (449 MAF from a 4g92 Lancer CB). The car is running great but I've been getting really bad gas mileage (6km/l or around 14mpg for mixed highway/city).

Is that normal consumption for a NA 4g63? Could the MAF be making me run rich?

And is there other MAF sensors I can convert to aside from the stock one that you guys have tried on a NA (605 or maybe a 609 MAF)?

The stock MAF sensor for the 1g is nowhere to be found here, I had to order from RockAuto but we couldn't get it to work so I'd assume that they've sent me a bad one and I don't want to bother with sending it back to the other side of the Earth and wait another month.

SAFC wouldn't be a bad option, you can find a lot of used ones.
Figuring out why the MAF you bought had problems and returning it while you can is a good idea as well.
The MAF is the primary sensor for deciding how much fuel is needed every engine cycle. The ECU is programmed with a table that matches the MAF to convert it's signal into a normalized measurement of air mass, so the two have to match or you need an ECU that will allow you to reprogram it for the new MAF.

I'm guessing I can achieve reprogramming my ECU with a good wideband afr and maybe an apexi SAFC? Also just curious if I can get my hands on a dsmlink ecu can I use that on a non turbo?
