i had a bad isc connection and i wanted to know could this blow out my ecu?
The car makes this ticking sound under the dash then shuts off. so i wait about five minutes and turn the key to the on position and i get a wierd clicking under the hood. thats where the bad isc connection comes into play the part of the plastic from the male plug on the isc was broken off inside the plug in so i removed the isc and tested the resistance and every coil was good. i am going to buy another ISC towmorrow. but could it have burn't the ECU? i have a lifetime warranty on a rebuilt ECU but i cannot open it or the warranty is no good.

I would imagine just about anything connected to the ECU could potentially "fry it", if it draws enough current to burn out the various driver chips.

I was thinking the same exact thing.
Satan ripped out my aftermarket alarm system saying it was frying ECUs. Not sure I buy into that one and now have no alarm or cruise control :toobad:

One of the red wires was cut leading to the ISC all last year. I only found it because I did a wire tuck and then discovered that the wire was cut. Didn't fry my ecu but did help my car out a lot after I re soldered that wire.

Definetly can I had it happen, doubt a wiring issue. Its the isc itself that fries the ecu. Need check isc which is easy to do with an ohm meter. My car quit running after it warmed up some. I ended up replacing ecu and isc at same time. Then ran and idled perfect.

Heres a short video on how test the isc. DSM ISC motor testing & Replacement - YouTube!
