Hey all! I just wanna start by saying that this is my first question on this forum, so I apologize if I made any mistakes. I’ve done a bunch of forum searching, as-well as service manual searching and I can’t for the life of me figure out the pin out of the Cam sensor. I know that I have 3 wires, A black ground wire, a red/black signal wire, and a red 12v power wire. I just don’t know which wire goes to which pin on the sensor it’s self! I messed up by not taking a picture before I decided to fix the broken pigtail so that’s definitely my bad. But would anyone have a picture I could see or know which wire goes where? It’s a 1997 Eagle Talon TSI AWD. I really appreciate any help!

Correct. The diagram in that thread has you looking at the sensor from the perspective of the connector.

The last picture in that post, before the diagram, shows the wire positions going into the connector.

Hey all! Just figured I’d share an update to my situation.

The car originally threw a check engine light when I’d be accelerating on the highway in 5th gear and then it would disappear when I let off the throttle. I’m assuming this was a misfire, although I couldn’t feel it. When I checked the codes, all I saw was a P0340 code. I went ahead and replaced the camshaft position sensor, as well as the pigtail because it was looking really rough.

That did not end up fixing my no start problem so I got to thinking that it might be the crank sensor. For shits and giggles I decided to wiggle the connector for the crank sensor and make sure it was fully connected and the car started! For like 10 seconds it sounded like the car was running on 2 cylinders but once it was warm it idled down fine.

Now my issue is that the car misfires while idling, and my AFRs are incredibly rich which leads to a fuel cut when I get fully into boost. I’m also now experiencing even more misfires when getting into the throttle. I’m just looking on some guidance on where I should go from here!
