Well I am getting closer to having my car all done and I am in the process of putting the cams in...I have a haynes manual, and I know the how to tell between the intake and exhaust cam...I guess what I am looking for is, is there anything to make the install easier or anything I should look out for to either do or not to do???? Trying not to spend EVEN MORE MONEY and break the car....thanks in advance.

Oh, I had to to take the cams completely out b/c I ended up getting the head rebuilt.

Well I just helped a friend do his and I dont have any tips, besides the fact that the cam caps are a PITA to get off, so I wouldnt wanna get too frustated and mess anything up there. Besides that I think you should make sure to put them in the same location they came from. Thats my lil bit of rambling.

P.S> I would tell you our method of getting them off but I dont know if it was right or wrong and dont wanna misinform you.

A pair of channel lock pliers make cap removal a very simple process. You just open them as far as you can, grab the cap and lift.

Just remember to tighten the caps down evenly dont tourqe down one side then the other. And make sure they remain in the correct order each cap needs to be specificly where it came from.

Thanks, for the help.. have everything off and the new cams in but i screwed p and did not mark the CAS, how do i correct that little problem?

The caps on the exhuast cam have an an R and the intake has an L on them. DO NOT MIX THEM UP! There also supposed to be tourqued to 20lbs. Heres a good link, hope it helps. Im going to do my cams tomarrow http://www.roadraceengineering.com/instructions/caminstructions.htm

They also have an I for intake and E for exhaust, as well as a designating number.

E1, E2, E3, etc.

It might be hard to see with all of the oil stains on the cap but it's there.

Yep, the caps were nice and clean when I had the head dipped and cleaned, almost missed that one, needless to say that would have been bad..Thanks saved my ass some money!
