So i got a call from my trusted mechanic who has my dsm atm in for a head repair. Was leaking or burning oil, ended up being the head.

He just told me that the machine shop said that my intake Camshafts and cam gear are bent.

FYI my car is getting new lifters, spark plugs, when it all comes back in. the rest has about 17k miles.

My question is. Would Buying just the intake camshaft & cam gear cause a problem?

I currently don't know what camshafts/and or profiles the car is currently running to begin with.

What dangers at am I looking at if the Exhaust Camshaft is stock and I go with a 264 Intake.

if you do a stock intake and a 264 exhaust cam you will be letting more air out than in. if you run high boost it should be ok. but im not 100% sure.

The one that requires changing is the Intake cam, so it would be the other way around.

I want to know how the camshaft and the cam gear got bent. But if you are replacing them both but HKS 272 in there and you will be happy!

Logic would tell you that both camshafts should be the same size; however, physics will tell you otherwise. For example look at the intake and exhaust valves, one is larger than the other and for good reason, the hot air (after combustion) expands and will need extra room in the exit hole to be sufficiently pushed out with the same, or close to the same volumetric efficiency. In other words after the air gets hot, it expands and will need a bigger hole to go out of.

That car with 272's sounds bad ass. Definately my next mod. I would find out how it got bent first. Also just make your cams match.
