Cams with stock everything?

I have a 91 GSX with what appears to be aftermarket cams. Problem is the cars is basically all stock. I don't feel like this is a good idea considering the cams make you leaner? What should I be aware of and should I even run the car?

Cams alone aren't going to make it go lean, and it seems unlikely that it would have aftermarket cams with no other mods, there is a long list of cheaper ways to get more power out of these cars, especially the 1st gens which don't max the turbocharger from the factory like the 2gs do.

It definitely has cams. It lopes at idle and takes a little bit longer to start up like a cammed car. It surprised the hell out of me haha. When I pulled the valve cover, the cams looked brand new for a 166k mike car. I thought maybe the loping and slow start up was a vacuum leak but it's definitely cams. If it doesn't hurt the car though then that's great.

Or you may have jumped a tooth of the timing belt...did you check if the timing marks are aligned at TDC?

Timing belt was just done and it was like that before and after the timing belt.

You just need to pop the valve cover and check...

Clean cams is not an indication of being aftermarket cams. We need markings/numbers to know what then are. Cant give advice without having information.

Timing is dead nuts even after running till its warmed up done with 2 certified techs. egr and vac is eliminated aftermarket exhaust and aftermarket clutch so it's not exactly 100% stock so cams are totally possible I just didn't get to see them due to the valve cover already being on. Sorry I did not reply sooner to your messages
