1. My car is a: 1g DSM

2. My wheel size I'm looking for is:
Diameter: 17
Width: 8.5
Offset: ????
Not sure what to get with the size wheel and tire I''m going with. I know I have more room inboard because of the coilovers, but dont know if anyone has tried something close and knows what fits. Id like to keep the offseet close to stock (like dont want to go to +30) but if I can keep it to +35 to +38 or closer to stock without problems then I would like to do that.

going with 255/40/17 tires. Not sure yet between Eagle F1 GS-D3's (which I had had) and BF goodrich TA-KD's, not tried, maybe better for dry but not as good in wet. Not sure.

3. My current or future suspension height will be lowered: 1-1.5", looking more around 1.25" though I think.

4. If suspension is lowered,
Not sure what to do with camber in rear and in front. Here is what I"m thinking though
Either zero to -0.5 degree camber in rear. Zero toe with the DSS toe eliminator
Then zero to -0.5 degree camber in front.
This is where I'm not sure on what to do with camber. I want to drag race the car so figuring having around -0.5 up front, the camber will go closer to zero when launching and going down track since front will lift up, so wheels become flatter on ground. I know the oppsite is for the rear though. But, I want the car to handle well also. I'm not looking for the perfect drag setup or road race setup, just something in between that is good for both.

5. Rear fender flange rolling: Probably going to have fenders flared out somewhere, sort of like Gregg C.

6. My driving style is: This is my toy. I want to have fun on backroads, but still not suck at drag racing.

Basically, I need help in the alignment department. Also with the offset as well. I have coilovers and cut my spring seats so there is more room in there now. I also know, if it fits a 2g, it will fit a 1g (my 18's with 235/40/18 tires rubbed the rear control arm on my 2g, but did not touch, had plenty of room on my 1g with the original springs/ shocks). Also, I dont car if my tires would hit the fender when lowered, I realize this because of the tire size. That is why, depending how far out the tires stick, I may have the fenders flared out some.

Hopefully that touched everything I needed to. I have searched already, been for awhile now. Still cant seem to find though what I"m looking for so anyone with experience would be helpful.

Id go with 35mm offset with those wide ass wheels. You may rub a bit with 255s and a lowered suspension. Are you set on 255s? what about 245s?

I agree on +35mm. I've seen 17x8 with 245/45 on a 1g with +40mm and coilovers, and he said they barely fit without hitting the coilover. So I figure you'll need to get the tire out there at least another 5mm of offset to clear the 255s. Like you said, you're definately going to need some aftermarket fender flares and some cutting to cover those tires without rubbing.

Unless you're really set on 255s, I'd go with the above mentioned setup. It seriously fits perfectly, and all that was needed was fender rolling and some negative camber. Not to mention his car is ~2" lower than stock.

well the 255/40/17 tires are almost dead nuts same diameter as the stock tires. I ran 235/40/18 tires which are bigger in diameter than stock tires, on a 18 x 7.5" wheel with a +42mm offset and I had plenty of room. So, going 20mm wider (10mm on each side) and having a smaller diameter, I would think would not be a problem. Going with a +35mm offset gives me 7mm more on the inside, and with the tires, takes away 3 mm from that. So the tires would be 3mm closer but also smaller in diameter. a 245/45/17 has a diameter of 25.7" where as the 255/40/17 has a diam of 25. So, fairly big difference. The stock tire diam is 24.9" (difference of 5 revs per mile) So, kind of why I want the 255/40/17.

I just wondered if anyone had experience with this tire size and what wheel offset they used, clearance issues etc. As I said, I'm not worried about the fender. My coilovers are pretty stiff (500lb front/ 400lb rear) and I'm not going to lower much more than an inch.

Still have the question about camber/ toe though. No idea what I should do or if my suggestion is actually a good one or not.
