When changing any or the 2 sensors does something have to be in sync with the ecu for good starting and idle.... hey i've been told that a flash to the ecu would have to happen has anyone heard of this

The sensors themselves aren't indexed to anything. Simply remove the retaining bolts, pull off the old sensor, place the new one, and replace the bolts.

The reason why I ask I have a starting issue that when I start something it engages immediately like is supposed to and others it takes a several seconds then starts, and when it does start it idles high also I have a P0113 code now. Someone recently told me if I replace the cam sensor I have to get my ecu flashed (never heard of that before) just to note I already replaced my crank sensor

You do not have to reflash the pcm if you replace the cam sensor.

If you do replace it tho, make shure you get a nice brand. Dont purchase an autozone or advance auto one. And make shure you get a pigtail connector also and that it is in good condition.

Just replaced mine in desperation of trying to get my car to start about a week ago. Got it fired and it cut right off. Fired again, drove it, cut right of. Turns out it had a crappy connection between the new sensor and the pigtail.

From your description tho it sounds more like a TPS sensor than a cam sensor. There is also a way to backprobe the cam sensor and check to see if it is working properly. However most of the time if there is a cam sensor problem, the car will not run or start.

Im telling yall. Been down this road too many times. Not worth the risk of working or not. Been a tech for many years at diffrent shops and too many times have i seen electrical sensors and componets come back from autozone with problems.

If money is tight tho then its all you can do. May wanna check ebay too. I know there are quite a bit on there.
Ya, I'd feel much safer getting one from Ebay .
I'm using a Duralast CPS right now and it works just fine. O, did I mention Autozone warranties stuff?

A mitsu one off ebay.

I also have a duralast cps right now on my other 420a and it works just fine, but when narrowing down electrical problems, the last thing you want is a brand new part failing you that you think is working properly. Trust me i know they warranty stuff. Almost everything duralast i have owned, i have had to warrenty. Just my opinion.

Crank/Cam sensors are actually made by a Manufacture called Wells, but happens to be stuck in a Duralast box; they build good sensors made within OEM specification or better. It's odd to see a new sensor fail within the first few thousand or so miles (not to say that it isn't possible); it's usually the connection or the initial harness itself. Still hangin on to my 2 year warranty @ 70 bones.

PO113 is your IAT sensor, get a DVM and measure the resistance to see if it is within spec (if its not change it), follow your connections from the sensor to the PCM (also check the harness that goes over the egr pipe). Hint: The resistance for the IAT and CLT should be around the same value when the engine is completely cold.

Did not know that. Learn something new. Just giving my personal experience. And it has never been great. But that eases my mind.

thanks for the help I will try to replace the cam sensor and IAC as soon as this crappy weather eases up

got me a bad CPS from mr. bitchy (mitsubishi) stealership.. but i suppose that happens outta the half a million they produce with no problems... still waitin to hear if they'll replace for free or what not.. they usually gotta policy on electrical parts... installed already.. no return.. but hopefully they find it in they're heart.. but good to hear that people are having no problems with autozone ones... here i heed the warnin and get a stealership one.. and i get screwed... LOL :tease:
