how much are you guys willing to pay for a used tranny with pretty high mileage on it..? most of the time you can't test it until it's in the car...

Whats most important is how much are YOU willing to pay. I got one for 250 bucks ( i had to drive 6 hours one way :( ) but it works just fine. I had to get another one, my core was all cracked. As with buying any used part, ask a lot of questions. Pay them using paypal so that way if the item is not as it was told to you it was going to be then you might be able to get your money back. Buy from people who have some feedback or rep points. Just use your head.

thanks for the advice. i'm just seeing how much most people are paying for used transmissions.

I've sold two AWD trannies w. t-cases... one was decent a lil notchy $400, one was mint, and shifted better than any AWD I've driven since sold it for $450, wish I kept it though...

I saw a whole used motor tranny and tranfercase AWD on ebay lastnight for 1200, buy it now. They say less than 50K miles and you get another motor to build into a race motor.

those are good prices.. but what's the difference between notchy and grinding..?

Notchy is just kinda hard to shift, might be in the linkage's, might be internal problems. Grinding is the gears are starting to clash and not mesh together. Synchro problems. For an awd tranny expect to pay around 400 for a good one.

you can get transmissions from hmotorsonline.com , im going to be buying one for 300$, with 30-40k on it.

I'm getting a 90 AWD tranny in good condition for $350. I just need to go pick it up (4 hour drive + the fact that I'm lazy = it'll probably be a week or so, haha)

I've seen used trannsmissions going for $1000 dollars already around here at the junkyard....

Seriously? WTF
Are our cars already considered "Vintage" or what? LOL.

It's all the dumb kids killing transmissions....They're becoming an Endangered Species, I guess. :toobad:
