So I have my eye on a 1992 Turbo TSI AWD with 100k miles and a new turbo 16g I believe its the small one off a evo8? and also a turbo timer and apexi wideband. I got the guy ready to do a straight trade for my 88 rx7. anyways anything I should look for or keep an eye out for on the car before I go through with the trade? I'm pretty car smart so dont worry about the commen sense stuff. Just anything anyone would find usefull to look out for. thanks!

If it is a 16g and off an evo, itd be the evoIII big 16g. Check the turbo and see if it has tdo5h on the compressor side housing. If it doesn't then not a real 16g. If it has it, could be a 16g or a 14b which is stock. Also, make sure all lines seem to be hooked up, the bov is definitely recirculated and make sure it runs and pulls good. If not, then double think your thoughts. Like Mindset suggested, if bov is vta, id probably not trust what else is done to it. People tend to get these cars and tear them apart and try to do a cheap job, when in fact makes our cars run crappier. If it has what you might mean, an apexi safcII, then chances are, he has messed with the timing and boost etc. Make sure to look for what all it has, boost controller, what size injectors, upgraded fuel pump etc. Also if he has upgraded it and says he has name brand, make sure to ask for receipts. Buying these cars are chances, you just have to know what you are buying and make sure you look through it throughly. But if it checks out, i think you will be pleased with the dsm game. Be prepared to become married to this community. Ha. Good luck and hope everything works out for you. Also keep us posted on if you get it.

I would make sure you don't see any kind of rewired sensors, or just any really crappy wire jobs anywhere. Had a friend who bought one and not even a week later burned to the ground because the previous owner rewired a 1g c.a.s. onto a 2g......It was missing relays and there where hot wires with no fuse.
