I am interested in buying a DSM. I want a fun reliable turbo car. I've read around but don't know much about these cars. I've had mustangs and a couple imports.

Here is a car that I found. With the mods done and the extra parts listed could it be reliable enough for daily driving.

Turbo Awd 1993 Eagle Talon Tsi for Trade

Thank you for your suggestions

Hi and welcome! The car you are looking at will need some work...first and foremost a transmission. If it's grinding in second, and popping out of reverse, it will need replaced soon. DSM's can be wonderful fun and super reliable, as long as they are maintained properly. If I were you, I'd look around a bit more, I'm in the same state as you (about 3 hours away) and I know you can find a better deal than that on a 1G DSM. Hope this helps! :)

The car looks good but I agree you should be able to find a better deal on a 1g then that with the problems it has

Yea the transmission problem seemed to be a deal breaker but he said he has a spare. Of course the condition of the spare needs to be questioned. I know the car needs some work. Ive never had a car that didn't, but that is part of looking for a cheaper car.

I have been looking and will continue to look. I was curious about the mods that were done. If those are standard? Could they cause driveablity issues?

Thats what I am looking for an AWD Turbo DSM close to stock. They are hard to find in decent condition. My friend has a wrx and the awd turbo is just fun. My mustang beats it but its not as drivable.

Thanks guys I will continue to look I'm not in any hurry to buy a car yet.

I would pass that one over and keep looking. That car has been running for some time without recirculating the BOV while not being setup as a Blo-thru (bad news, can't tell how bad from a picture, but definitely bad) That is a good indication of how poorly the upgrades were performed. Also, the issues with the transmission that are detailed will require a rebuild to fix, they will get progressively worse.
Good luck finding a nice DSM, but that isn't one.

:)

Yeah, I would keep looking for a bit since this has quite a few problems that could prove to be a sign of things to come in the future. If it's venting to atmosphere should have it tuned to account for this. I think I might myself go back to a recirculating setup. There's a 1G in the DSM classifieds for 2200 that has a 16G and seemed to be done right. I myself am thinking about picking it up if it wasn't so far away. Go with a turbo'd 4g63 for sure!:hellyeah:
