Im buying my first dsm next saturday. Its a 96 gs-t. What key things should i be looking for , to see if it has any problems or anything. and input will help.

turbo shaft play, molded carpet on the passenger floor board indicating a leak in the firewall, mileage, crankwalk possibilities, ne type of mods, plus your avg things you take into consideration when buying other cars

here's some obvious things that most people seem to forget:

oil/coolant leaks
oil/coolant burning
noises during clutch engagement/disengagement
make sure all gauges are working
ask about maintainence done in the past and recently (if any)
steering/alignment problems: does it pull to one side? and suspension rattles? uneven tire wear?

thats basically all i can think of right now

If the pedal hits the floor on a left turn.. walk away, very fast. Stick it in 5th at 2k rpms and punch it. Tell you if the clutch sucks.

Maintenance history is the big one. Stuff like clutch changes, timing belt changes, engine rebuilds/transmission rebuilds (if there are any, where from and how long ago). If it was properly maintained you should be good to go, if there is even a shred of doubt, walk away. A car is a lot of money, and don't spend it if you feel it is going to crap out on you the next day. Time is your friend.
