finally install turbo it doesent let us run past 4pounds of booost its a internal wastegate turbo 16G not only that is throwing black smoke from exhaust is it possible its burning oil?
they are guessing is the rings stupid wiseco send me wrong size rings 3times finally send me another pair right size but i think it wasnt ment for the turbo pistons? is it possible it could be the rings?

Well, if you are throwing black smoke then you are most likely not burning oil. If it has to do with the rings it would most likely be the rong size rings and they can make your car smoke. The seals on the turbo, I wouldn't say they would produce black smoke but more like slowly ruin the turbo instead.

My advice is check the internals and tat should be where it is coming from. Even if you have the wrong type of rings not to support the boost, then you still might get black smoke but you would here something in the motor that don't sound all to nice if they don't hold up

i was always told that black smoke meant you were running to rich ? correct me if im wrong..

White smoke is water/coolant.
Blue is oil.
Black is carbon.

Carbon begins to build up when combustion is not hot enough to burn it away. Too much fuel will burn cold. Therefore, running too rich can lead to black smoke.

Begin by reading your spark plugs.

He is correct on that I forgot to about the to rich side of things. Yeah start with the spark plugs you might want to go with a hotter one if it isn't burning the fuel all the way.

what do you have for your fuel setup ? are you still runing stock injectors or bigger ?
Im still learning about turboing the 420a but might as well start with the basics.:thumb:

Rings where right size and for turbo sorry about that. MOds: fully built motor stock injectors, 12:1fmu with a 255 fuel pump running a missing link still smokes a little and oil leak throw the valve cover its lean on 4 to 5psi and it just gets stuck like a fuel cut. am I just not getting enough fuel?

i check vaccum its fine fuel pressure its fine as well. it might be the missing link like you said, Can i just dyno tune it?or should i just try the FCD's.
With that set up i wouldn't need any tunning right? and who is paul sorry for the noob questions.

I have one of Paul's earlier FCD's and it works great. I had a similar problem about a week ago that you are describing. My MAP voltage was too high from the FCD. It was at about 4.61v (set that way on my eclipse) and I backed it down to about 4.51v and it runs perfect now. I guess voltages that the cars can handle vary from year to year.
