Bumper support/ Crash Beam

Recently while at the junkyard I came across a Talon with a near perfect rear end so I pulled the bumper cover and the tail lights for a swap. I pulled off the stock eclipse 2ga parts and attempted to attach the new bumper cover on but it seems like it doesn't fit like it should. Does anyone know if the 2gb Talon has a different crash beam than a 2ga eclipse?

It is because the 2G Talon bumper is lower in the middle section. Thus the mounting bracket welded to the car is mounted lower on the Talons. Your Eclipse has that bracket mounted higher so that is why it is not fitting. You have to drill out the spot welds and reweld that mounting bracket lower. Then all should fit well.

I seen the middle section was higher, so I had planned to cut that and re-weld it onto the body but it seemed that when I attempted to just slide the cover over and not set it over the middle mounting bracket, that the bumper was not able to be pushed far enough forward, like it was being pushed out by the support.

I would think the talon crash beam would be thicker as the license plate is mounted on the center taillight section. Try removing your crash beam and see if the rear bumper fits normally.
