Building my own forward facing manifold

Taking a stab at building my own forward facing manifold. Got it where i wanted it to only realize the oil drain from the turbo is basically parallel with the drain into the pan...so that wont work, but just playin around i came up with this, almost makes me wanna run a scavenging pump.

Heres one i helped a buddy fab up for his racecar.

are you using supports and welding/mounting it to the frame?

If you are, are you concerned about the rocking of the engine? I am designing one now with a friend and we were concerned about the brackets breaking/bending with the rocking of the engine. We decided to create brackets that extended from the old engine mount location on the front of the engine. Where those two bolts come out of. Since it is still attached the the engine it remove any flexing of the metal.

Im not worried about strength. My buddys has a GTX45R hangind pretty far off the head withhis and dual gates and his is holding up pretty good. And thats who is gonna be doing the final welding on mine.

I think this is what agentorange was talking about. There looks to be two supports on your set up. I have circled them in red below. Or are they just there for the mock up?

Those HAVE to be for mockup because there's no way in helll that the car will be run like that. With the engine flexing under load, in sure something would go wrong...

Yep that was my thoughts as well. But like agentorange I too was wondering if a manifold, with long runners, can take the weight of a large turbo with no support.

Yes it can. If its welded right and made out of good material. The first pic at the top...that manifold puts a GTX45R inthe drivers headlight area and has no other support braces. Its had no problems.

Got it mostly done, just gotta wait till i get the wastegate to weld on the flange.

Nah, once you bend the dipstick outta the way theres a ton of room for a downpipe.
