Hello, I'm planning to build a 2.3L stroker...I've done lots of research...I specialize in porting heads and intakes...I plan to go and get a 2.4 crank from a hyundai and need help with the cross reference...how do I know what car has a 6 bolt crank I need and what years was it made...Also some people say you need different pistons, others say you dont...I want to make it without spending tons of money, after getting the crank and clearensing the block what will I need....

I plan on putting new bearing on the bottom end, new seals and porting and polishing my head to a stage 3....What kind of HP gains will I be looking at? and if I have the engine bored like a .030 over what difference will that make?

One last question....will a n/t 2.0L engine be the same as a turbo except for the cams, and pistons?
 
Ive figured out alot of this info, b/c I am too building a 2.3L stroker.

A 2.3L stroker is a 2.0L 4G63 block with a 2.4L crankshaft.

The stock size rod is used, but a shorter, stroker piston is needed.

The 2.4L crankshaft can be found in a variety of cars. One is from 89-91 Hyundai Elantra's. This the the G4CS crankshaft, it is made my Hyundai and is a 6 bolt.

Another is the 2.4L crankshaft from a 87-88 Mitsubishi Galant. This is the 6 bolt version of the 4G64 crank. I have read some say the mitsu crank is stronger, but both have the same part number, so I don't know if the manufacturing is different or not in the hardening process.

I decided to get the 2.4L crank from the Galant from KarKing.

You do need different pistons. They are shorter than non stroker pistons. Wiseco makes some pistons for this.

The stock size rod is used, in corralation with the 100mm stoke crankshaft, and shorter pistons, to achieve the correct piston height in the block.

Any overbore will no yeild you any noticeable HP. Go with the smallest overbore size piston that is useable in your block. This way the block is able to be bored over again if need be.

A 1G non turbo block is basically the same as a turbo block. It has higher compression pistons, no oil squirters, and no knock sensor, and no dowel pin in the front of the crankshaft.

Here is my setup of Eagle rods, and Wiseco stroker pistons. My 2.4L 4G64 crank will be in on Monday.

Any idea of the hp range with the standard size stroker pistons? what will compression be? I want to use the same parts you are getting actually but before buying, I want to know how much hp the rods and pistons will handle.
 
Its at least a 600hp safe combo, as long as you have a nice tune. Wiseco states they are 8.8 compression ratio.

And like I said before, an overbore size yeilds you no noticable hp gains. You only bore out a block because it needs a bore, not to get more hp from it.
 
I have a question for anyone who has built this engine or has an idea to how much boost is possible to be ran on pump gas (93 octane) with 850 or 950 injectors. I know that several people have basically reached the end of pump gas at like 12psi with 9.0:1 compression. Is the ross stroker piston available in 8.5:1 compression, I wasn't able to find any information on this. Thank you.

Wiseco states that these pistons CR is 8.6-8.8 depending on other factors, I.E. deck height, etc. With this CR, I am not worried about tuning on pump.

What do you have to tune with? If you can afford it, DSMLink and a Widband O2 will yeild you great results.

Also, you question about max boost on 8 or 900 cc injectors is irrelivant. Max boost if not really a factor with injector size unless you are maxing the injectors out, and at 9:1 CR, 12 psi is not going to be close to maxing them out.

I personally have a friend that runs about 15-16 psi on a 2.0L, with 9.0:1 CR Wiseco's, and he is only tuning with a Maf-T right now on 550's or 580cc injectors. Sure, he is seeing 120% IDC's, but it's more than 12psi like you stated, on smaller injectors.

Something is wrong with the cars you have seen maxing out 12psi on 93 oct. w/ 9.0:1 CR pistons.

Its cool. OK so what HP am I going to be seeing after I build my 2.4L? I'm planing on running a 2g mas or maybe a maft setup, FMIC, 660cc's full 3" exhaust, and a big16g....I'm trying to build the engine to run hopefully low 11's but I dont want to get too complicated with EMS's and chips...I just want a built engine with a big turbo and fuel mods...Also forgot to ask before, does the 2.4L have balance shafts? I want to run about 12-15 psi for street use and then boost up between 21-25...any ide what the safest boost will be?

Wether 2.4has balance shafts is up to you to deside, but unless you're emotionally attached to them, get rid of 'em. Big16G is not a big turbo. I presonally would consider it a waist to run big16G on a stroker. 25psi is past the efficiency range of big16G anyway. If you have larger displacement engine, use it to spool larger turbo.
 
Look into getting bigger injectors and a bigger turbo. I personally wouldnt go any smaller than a 20g or 50 trim on a 2.4L. Smaller turbos (ie 16g) will lose efficiency very fast on a 2.4L setup. I am content with my 50 trim on my g4cs and I definately wouldnt go smaller.
