A local guy has broken a wrist pin and wants to do a rebuild. I told him a cheap way out would be a set of 1G pistons and 2G .020 pistons.

What would you guys recommend as far as internals? We will be replacing every bearing, gasket, pump, and seal in the process.

Thanks guys!

FYI: The car is a 95 GST powered by a E316G, supporting fuel mods (pump, 550s, safc-II), and 3" downpipe w/ a cutout.

well if you're talking budget minded rebuild, big rods and 2g pistons are good enough. you already have the bearings. the only thing leftis the main studs and head studes. Unless you're going to build the head then a lot of it would depend on which cams you would use.

Add a BS eliminator kit. Then that's 1 less pulley to replace as well. An oem gasket kit would do the job too. You might as well grab arp head studs as they're about the same price as the oem replacemnt bolts.

If it has already been swapped to a 6-bolt then the more cost effective way would be with a set of 1G pistons. Since you can save the money for having the 6-bolt rods machined for the 2G pistons.

ARPs and a BS Eliminator kit are now added to the list.

The car is still a 7 bolt car. I have the numbers/data for how the 1G rods must be machined to accept the 2G pistons.

I'm not sure if you can put 1g big rods on a 7 bolt crank. I thought it was only for 6 bolts? Could be wrong though.

Are you planning on converting the car to a 6-bolt?

If not then stay with the 2G pistons, and 7-bolt rods.

I was looking into this and I do believe you're correct.

Yea, you pretty much answered my question without me asking. Thanks guys!
