How the hell is that budget at all?

You want budget ic for your setup get a Supra smic or a NPR fmic. Both are great and can be had for 10th of that price.

My 14b loves the NPR intercooler.

And Syndicate13 is running an NPR on a small 16g.

I'd go for one of these if possible.

do it right or dont do it at all, if i takes you another 3 weeks to save up then do it. dont go short on your car. agp makes an alsome 2g kit, ams also makes one of the best fmic out there. i cant go wrong between them two

I bought my 96tsi awd for 3grand. I really would like to not spend 1/3 of the cost of the car on an intercooler. Is the adfx a good intercooler?

I have to agree with him. You have more aggrevation, frustration, and wasted time when you try to either take the easily way out or go budget.

Do it right the 1st time.

Buy it once

the ADFX Racing intercooler is a good intercooler, it flows nearly twice as much as a supra sidemount, I wouldn't consider it a cheap way out by means of quality, just price.

I got my Evo 8 FMIC w/ all the Evo's stock aluminum piping and some rubber, for $300. I spent another $15 or so on clamps and called it a day. I took a budget route and couldn't be more satisfied, so for those of you knocking saving money, you CAN do things RIGHT and still save money.

How about a yonaka ic? streetimports.com sells them for pretty cheap. there mid size one is 21x19x3 and its only 299.00. check them out

first that core is too big, it wont fit very well in the nose of a dsm, and second that is only for the price of the core, no pipes.

i meant 21x9 x3 and that will fit, even though its just the core he could pick up some mandrel bent pipes from rre or even ebay for a decent price and do a custom job.

and tube and fin will fit him fine, he stated that hes only looking to make 350 hp if that guys are making way more power out there and use tube and fin. that core flows 800 cfm and is rated for 550hp.
just a suggestion ;)

IMO, best intercooler on a budget, Spearco 2-209, 3"x7.125"x18.5"

Core: $300
Piping and sheet metal: $100
Welding $60

Total for a good bar and plate FMIC that you know flows 670 cfm and supports 450 hp and would be perfect for a 16g, big t-28, big 16g, and an evo16g...

$460

Did you buy that from a guy named Brian? Silver EVO?

dont listen to all these guys, they obviously arent true dsmers if they dont ghetto rig everything on their cars. :D

You make yourself look like a dumbass by saying something like that. Do it right, do it once. It's shadetree mechanics like you that give DSMs a bad name.

HAHAHA, WHY? What is wrong with greyforestgst's car? If we are looking at the same picture, to me his setup looks no worse than the 1200 dollar greddy kit, for a quarter of the cost. I think you are a dumbass for talking out of your ass. As long as he has short run intercooler piping, and effecient core, you can't go wrong. Is there some sort of bling bling factor he left out? Thats right, I forgot bling bling pipes add 5 mph to your traps, LOL.

You should go and  some where else cause you spent too much on an intercooler.

all of a sudden fabricating your own stuff makes you a shadetree mechanic?

i'd think my 2.25" IC piping w/ spearco core for ~300 is just as well off as a $600 setup  and if there is any diff. it'd be negligible

however- greyforest.. im feeling that ABS piping you got in there :p

spoonin. I am really thinking about doing that mod. I only need to locate the core. I am totally comfortable with cutting and all that. Not really sure about the beading piping... Bolts up to the greddy intercooler piping perfectly? How hard is it to do? I can do all bolt ons, tear down a head. Small stuff.
