Punishment Budget Manifold

I sent a couple of emails to Punishment and got replies from them pretty quickly and promptly about it. After I get meth in my car, the manifold will probably be the next thing to change. Will be opting for this one or the FP Race one depending on my financial situation.

What did they have to say about it? Are you running one of these manifolds? If so, how do you like it? any problems?

Just that it's made of thinner metal than their much more expensive ones (obviously) and that they don't offer any sort of heat shielding or coating for it. Am not running one of these, but might be in the near future. Am deciding whether to go for the Punishment budget one or the more expensive FP race one.

Yeah I'm still debating if its worth it or not. I'm leaning more towards a evo 3 manifold that this right now.

Did they say anything about them building these manifolds in house, or do they buy they ebay manifolds and re-inforce them?

Alright he just sent me an email back, they do not buy these of off ebay and just reinforce them. He said that none of the parts they sell come from ebay.

Is anyone running one of these budget manifolds? Any Problems?

Thanks man, thats good to know. The pacesetter that was on my car when I bought it isn't going to last much longer (starting to get surface rust all over it) and this was going to be my next manifold, since I missed out on the FP group buy.

Does anyone know if this one places the turbo alittle further out like the FP one? Only reason I ask is because I love the price, but my future plans involve a 50 trim and I really don't want to have to dent my water pipe LOL.

I have one of these manifolds and it is alright for the money. The support brackets and the wastegate flange(if you get the one with the 38mm wastegate flange) will rust because unlike the rest of the manifold, they are made of mild steel. The support brackets are beefy and I am sure will hold a nice sized turbo. Unfortunately, the brakets are kinda poorly placed because connecting the oil feed line, and tightening two bolts for the turbo can turn into a multi hour ordeal because of how tight it is. I am pleased with it for what I paid but honestly, I would love to get something that is easier to work with when removing the turbo. BTW, I have a 35r and the manifold puts the compressor housing far enough away that it doesnt even come close to the water pipe. And, the 38mm wastegate just barely clears the ps pump when all the nipples are installed on the gate(not a big deal at all but just lets you know how much clearance there is).

I too was looking at Punishments Budget Manifold, for the price you cannot go wrong. i dont know what people are saying about the ebay things, but besides the fact punishment makes great products. I emailed them last week to again see if i could get one with a 38mm external flange on it and they replyed with "its not offered". I sent them a second email asking if they could fab one on there for extra money and they did not get back to me... I would like to call them on monday and tell them that other peole are looking for it too... Who else would be interested in a mitsu turbo flange with a 38mm extermal hookup?

I guess I should clarify. I have the T3 version of the manifold not the mitsu.

Got my manifold today in the mail. Well, if first impressions are anything to go by, this looks like a great buy at only $189 including shipping. Very nice stainless steel manifold, with Punishment Racing reinforcing the welds where the manifold meets the engine flange and the turbo flange (as you can see below). The only place where it could be liable to crack would be the welds on the manifold, which I have also pictured below. But given that the manifold has a 12-month warranty, it is well worth the price. Even if it blows a weld after 18 months, it will have probably paid for itself. Plus, the Punishment Racing name carries a lot of weight.

Will show more pictures once it's on. Looking forward to having this, a ported out O2 housing and a new frontpipe on (although the frontpipe will have to be "manipulated" somewhat to get it to fit exactly onto my car as it was made for a DSM I believe).
