Broken crank stud

On the end of the crank where the flywheel bolts to it, the little stub on it broke off. Here is a pic of a car with the little stub still on the crank. Now the question is...is it ok to reinstall my flywheel with the stub broken?

All that is used for is a guide for your flywheel. Yes you can reinstall your flywheel to it again and it will be fine. Just make sure you line put your flywheel in the same location as it came off. Use locktite on the bolts.

That's correct. The "stud" is actually a dowel. It is supposed the be there for proper flywheel alignment. Many suggest to use new bolts, but like eeeewidner said, you can get away with using the old bolts and some loctite. Be sure to torque the bolts to spec, both on the flywheel to crank and the pressure plate to the flywheel bolts.

It looks like you have a buildup of oil under the crank. Now would be a good time to inspect/replace the rear main seal. Be sure both dowels are in the block when you reinstall the transmission, I think I only see one.
