Ok well I thought I had the answer on how to torque my arp head studs after doing some searching and people told me and I had proof from the arp website that they said 120ft lbs torque with engine oil. Well I was torqueing mine to 105ft lbs of torque and 1-8 went perfectly fine and I get to the 9th one and it ####E N BREAKS!!! Yes the stud just broke!!! I'm soooo pissed right now cause I need the car for Saturday so that means no replacement for me. So now my question is, can I use one of the old OEM studs I had on there before as long as it's not stretched and in specs? The old studs have roughly 2000 miles on them so they are like brand new but not ARP's. I would just run it like that for about 2-3 days until I get the arp stud in. Do you guys think I should be fine with just one OEM Stud? Also since 105ft lbs of torque is obviously too much do you think I should loosen them all up and just torque them to like 90ft lbs?

That's what I thought! There was even a person that posted a pic of the manual from arp!! I thought that 120 was crazy so I thought 105 at the most. I got through 8 of them and I didn't think anything of it. The 9th one was about finished and all of a sudden the shit breaks. But can I use the old stud since they are pretty much new for 2-3 days? Also should I losen up all the studs and retorque them to 90ft lbs?

Well the thing is that I am defently going to get a replacement arp stud but I have to have the car up and running by late friday at the latest. So my question is can I use my OEM stud for about 2-3 days until I get my new arp stud?

I would only use the ARP lube on the stud threads on the washers and the bottom of the nuts. I have reused mine many times and never had a problem. Are you on the 11mm 7 bolt studs or the 12mm 1g 6bolt studs as this will make a huge diffrence in torque applied

I'm sorry to hear that.

I torqued my arp studs to 85ftlbs. I don't know if I would go over 100. I would be scared that I would break one off in the block. That is my opinion.

It will take alot more than 100 ft pounds for arp too break

I have reused the stock bolts before with no problems. I wouldn't reuse them more than once. Also wouldn't mix them up with arp studs. Just torque them down to 75-85lbs this time. You said stock studs? You mean bolts? I don't remember mine being studs.

Daaaamn, who the hell told you 120?? I wouldnt use anything BUT another stud, just wait.

Well I had made a whole nother thread about what to torque them to and people said the manual said 120ft lbs and they even posted a pic of the manual where it says that....

you can use the stock bolt but I would move it closer to the middle incase of anything. At 100pounds I stripped the block believe me.
