I was torqing the cam cap bolts to 14ft/lbs and one broke off in the middle, so the bottom half is still in the head.

How would I go about fixing this, do I have to now get it line honed for a new bolt?

Thanks for any help.

It broke off about half way down the hole in the head.

So just back it out with an EZ out or something of that nature, and replace the bolt?

That doesn't seem so bad.

Grab a pick and see if you can spin the bolt out before you go trying to drill it or anything. If it was over torquing or a bad bolt that caused it to break, then most of the time the bottom of the bolt will spin out very easily. If it was the threads that got stuck, then you will need to clean the thread on the hole once it is out. If you do drill it, see if you can get some reverse drill bits. That way if it bits, it could pull the bolt out in one shot.

Also, how did you break a bolt at under 14 ft lbs?? I would suggest using an inch lb torque wrench and going to 168 in lbs. At such a low torque a ft lb wrench will not be precise enough. It's just safer. I've seen someone over toque cam caps and wind up seizing the cam to the head.
