well went to the track tonight and ran bad the first time
i could tell there was a boost leak somewhere.its been like this for awile now so i popped the hood and hit the gas ..

There is a crack going across the top seam of the manifold about 8" long {underneth where it says magnus on it }

guess i'll call them tommorow hopefully they will take care of me
i havent really heard of their product breaking so I'm kinda in shock about it paying all that money just to have it break

you may have to login to see the pics

I've seen many of them crack as you say, right along the welds. Maybe it's time for some Welding 101 classes :shhh:

I was skeptical about that manifold since the first day I saw it, I had a feeling tha tthese manifolds were going to crack along the welds, my theory answered!

We have split BJ's and Polk manifolds as well, I have yet to split the magnus, but it is thinner material. You run 30+ PSI through it stress can make anything crack.

i was only running 18psi though

yea that's something I may consider. Hey I meant to ask you before ... do you know anyone selling a 2g gsx trans around chicago? I broke mine again and I don't want to buy a tre or shep one so I just want a stock one to drive with for a while. Let me know if you know of one.

I have seen about 4 Venoms completely blow out the welds at 20psi. I have yet to see a problem with the magnus's around here. There are several people who run 28psi and havn't broke anything. But the one i sent back to them had a hole in the weld and the didn't have the throttle cable mount. I think there getting less and less quality because more people are getting them and there trying to hurry and the do a half ass job on polishing to.
IMO they just put them on back order and do them right like they use to. :shhh:

No good. As stated above, I too have seen several Venoms crack. In fact I have always heard and experienced them as being a real POS> Looks nice IMO,... but a piece.

That's funny, starting to sound like its just a matter of time before any SMIM will pop the seams. I have a magnus the only reason I would go with a venom is because it would be a nice bolt on versus messing with relocating stuff and welding up IC piping etc.

why dont you guys consider going with the forrester, from the pictures I can see that its not welded but looks like its cast and is held together by screws.

So they are not to be run with 30psi????

Seems to me that these are MADE for 30+psi. Hmmm...

Maybe the TF&TF boys were running SMIM when the danger to manifold..........

Get an FRH, be done with it :D

I have seen Polk run 36psi+ threw many of his at his shop. I have a custom one for a stroker on mine, have yet to run it tho, but it will see 34psi+ in it. Shep runs a BJ's smi and as far as I know of has only messed up one, but a giggle gas backfire like his would of done that to anything.

On the venoms I have herd/seen pics of many that have poped under street boosting(18-20 psi). They are not as well made as some of the others.

My god for the price you pay for the magnus they should be built to last forever...definitley makes me think twice to upgrade to a SMIM like everyone said..Does magnus have warranties on these things?

im going to call on monday and keep you guys updated ..im not tryin to give them any bad play because i love the manifold but we'll find out i guess

Since obviously there cracking that mean's the weld dident fully penatrate or the bead it's self isn't big enough to hold that presure. I thought's of making my own part's and look at what's offered now aday's and the quality is poor . I guess these company's just have to stop rushing there shit and take there time's or stop hiring 6 dollor an hour welder's .... :talon:

P.S just so no one say's how i know anyhtng about welding am a certified welder and fabricator

I have had a Magnus and had no problems. I ran 30psi multiple times.

I would not sell a shop down the river because one guy had a crack and hasn't even talked to the shop yet. You guys jump on and off the band wagon to quickly.

All you that are having doubts about a SMIM now, really should not buy one?

Just a little bit of info guys ,Marco the owner and founder of magnus ,well you see he's the guy who welds the manifolds. Yup the same guy whom builds "monstor" motors is the same guy whom builds you you'r intakes. The reason it takes so long for these manifolds is their made a batch at a time ,and a batch can be anywhere from 5 to 10 manifolds at a time .

Dont get me wrong im not sticking up for him nor am I vouching for his work methods, but at the end of the day I cant really complain about my intake manifold.

I run 17 psi daily and run 21 psi while racing , while this isnt much the manifold has never given me problems to date.

If the mirror shine is a problem well then understand it will get dirty when being installed so no matter what you will have to re-polish it.

Like I said I have seen many manifolds split. Hell I have seen one blow up (nitrous backfire) splits can happen to anyone on any manifold. My current car runs a magnus boost 30-32 psi ALL THE TIME. No problems yet but if it splits I wil just reweld it. If you are at the point you have a smim you should be competent enough to reweld a split.
