Hey guys... My brother has a 2g auto.. Big 16g/ 3" cat back/ 255/ afc/hard pipes/ pretty much it....

Sometimes it'll brake torque... And sometimes it wont...... When it does, you have to wait at least 10- 15 seconds for it to start building...... Any comments?

We've since put in a new short block, and fp2 cams.... The old block eventually had 0 compression in #3 and a rod knockin......

Maybe the low compression in the cylinder was causing it??? I'm not sure....

Get hi-stall torque converter.

Here is a little technique i used when drag racing

"If your car has power brakes, you could apply the brake-torquing technique even better. At the starting line, shift your auto gearbox into neutral and floor the brake pedal with your left foot. Rev the engine once and quickly get off the throttle. You will feel the brake pedal sink further to the floor. This greatly increases the braking force. Now shift back into gear. You will now be able to rev up the engine even higher against the torque converter. "

Thanks for the post... We've since figured out/ or read about the braking technique....

I've also read that the 95 had the easiest stall converter in it to brake torque.... I remember his 1g auto had no problem torquing to 14 psi everytime he tried....

I 'd like to read this also, could you provide a link ?

I found with my particular Talon. That if I went to max boost, aka 16.5 is where I was set. The engine would be revving to almost 5300. well that sucks on a stock turbo and cams...

Dont get me wrong the car launched hard (weaksauce I know vs a modified car) But was actually Slower than if I launched at say 13Psi and only at 3200rpm.. Its laughable I know, understand this was when I first got the car and didnt know any better.

The lower rpm and Psi launch was Alot better simply Due to the cams and turbo are in their efficiency range Vs blowing hot air at higher Psi and the cams running out.
Needless to say I blew off ALOT of vac lines and caused numerous oil leaks, not to mention busting engine mounts sitting at the line revved to hell and back for nuthing.ROFL

Sometimes less is acctually more.
And know I know better.

After all knowing is half the battle! :thumb:
