Brake calipers

I just put new front brake pads on my car, and the calipers wont fit over the new pads. And yes, I am sure they are the right size. What am I doing wrong?

Did you push the piston all the way in the caliper before you put the pads in?

It wont go any farther in, im guessing my calipers are siezed or something.

That is possible. Is the piston flush with the caliper, or does it stick out some? If it sticks out some you should be able to get it in some more. Do you have a caliper splitter or C clamps?

No i do not have one of them. And no, the piston is not flush w/the caliper, it sticks out about a half inch.

get a C-clamp and push them in

That should do the trick. Just be careful not to damage the piston.

Some have to be twisted back in. Forcing them can cause damage.

The rear caliper pistons have to be turned back in.Front pistons,like they said, get a big C clamp,its easy if you get a small 1/2 thick block of wood to put over the piston,and then put the clamp on it.Makes it a little easier.
