brake caliper problem I'm confused

I'm having a huge problem on my 90 laser. I'm in the middle of my brake job an I'm trying to close my caliper on my driver side and it won't line up right. Like an idiot I forgot to get a picture. But like I said it won't slide all the way down and close because the caliper is to far in on the bottom where the bolt goes in.

Colapse your caliper more. Push the piston all the way in till it is flush.

without a pic it sounds like you don't have the caliper piston compressed all the way

Get a C clamp and push your piston in and that should fix your problem.

no the piston is compressed all the way. I'm sorry I was really arggged with my car when I wrote that.
The caliper slides over the brake pads. When I try to line it up with the holes matching to put the caliper back in to finish the brake job, the bolt holder on the caliper bottom bolt holder (for lack of a better word) is pushed to close to the knuckle.

Do the slide pin move in and out easy? It is possible they are rusted in the sleaves. I work at a brake place and we get this every day.

I finally got a pic sorry it took so long. But as you can see it doesn't line up right it's to far out for the caliper to slide back into place.

The slider pin is seized. Get it out of there & clean & lube it up so it can move freely.

You should remove the rubber boot, and try to heat up the guide and hit it a couple times with a hammer, and it should get loose again.

Could also use the C-clamp on that, although highly not advised.

You must get that pin out and lube it so it slids freely.Be careful not to rip the boots.Good Luck

Can't you just push the pin back in with your hand? Or put one side where that pin is up against the back there cockeyed, try pushing it in, and repeat on other side if it works..What i'm saying is, use the hard metal as a pusher to push push pin back into the boot. Use it as leverage, instead of your hand, or a clamp..

I am in agreement with Bud. Use it as a bracing point which would force the sliding guide out. Then you could clean and lube. Just a heads up, if its too rusted to the point that metal is eaten away. You may have to grab a hardware kit from your local auto parts store.
