If you aren't running a blow thru maf or speed density than you must have it recirculated for the car to run right between shifts and at idle.
 
If you have to ask if it matters, odds are you haven't got the setup to vent properly. When in doubt, always recirc.
 
Yeapp recirculate or else it will run rich between the shifts. If you want to vent it to atmosphere I'd suggest you get a GM 3" 3.5" maf, an maf translator, and DSMLINK or speed density. It will compensate for the air fuel and will allow you to Vent your bov to the atmosphere.
